Where do I find this type of "trim" for metal?

I've removed my fog lights, and I'd like to clean up the now exposed openings. My thought is to use a black rubber "trim" around the perimeter (as they are both to remain open for cooling).

I am looking for that rubber "trim" (with metal banding inside) that is used to cover exposed sheet metal so it won't cut or abrade. It is black and is shaped like a "C" so it self-clamps over the edge of the metal. I assume it is sold by the foot.

What is it called? Where can I find it? Sorry I don't have a picture.

I guess that would work too.

Where do I either? Automotive supply shop? Upholstery shop? Harware store?

Mike,
We use some stuff that is a rubber C-channel for panelboards and such (electrical). I could check tomorrow when I get in the office and see if I have any in the feild. You wouldnt need but what, 4' ? Mainly for 16g metal. The other thing you could try is heat shrink tubing. Cut in half and break out the dryer to shrink it on to the metal. Just do it inch by inch so the tubing shrinks around the metal and not on its self. You can find the shrink tube at most Radio shacks and probably Home Depot. They may also have the C-channel barrier.

I found some on my other car. In the photo it is white (I'd prefer black) and it's used as trim around the sunroof.

Dan,

I need it by tomorrow night as my car is on display at a car show on Tuesday.

Let me see if I can find it locally, and I'll look into the heat shrink tubing too - good idea.

If nothing turns up, I'll get back to you.

- Mike

Mike, how about using black door edge guard material ?? Usually has its' own adhesive built in. Cheap and easy to find at your local Autozone type place.

All great ideas... but this is a "pinch" so I am going to try it.
