No doubt about it, the duck is a much cleaner, if less effective, design.

Here's a few I cherry picked from this list:

Just a few of what I'd guess are many.

Agreed. Go with the duck if you want to keep a tail. Otherwise go tailless!

My opinion:

Ducks look best on longhoods
Tea tray turbo wing looks funny unless you have flared fenders
For your '77 narrow body:

1) Early Turbo tail or later Carrera tail will look the best, or,

2) Weld on some Turbo fender flares and keep the current tail, or,

3) Go tailless. The tailless 911 is a classic form. or,

4) Weld on turbo fender flares and go tailless, so it looks like a "spoiler delete" option. I have seen one car like this and it was awesome!

Your car isn't completely a narrow body, so a smaller tail looks appropriate. Here's another pelicanite's coupe w/duck (hope they don't mind me posting it! )

Unless you are going for the 'ricer-look' (narrow cars with huge tails), go with the duck. It doesn't fight the lines of a narrow car. Don't worry about the retro-poser thing - do what makes you feel good, and blow off what others might think. Live for yourself and not for others - a key to personal happiness. (no charge) ;-)

But he does not have a narrow car. He's got a Carrera/SC.

They came from the factory with the Tea tray. I agree with the Turbo tail beeing too much...

I just believe the duck is in vogue now coz we are all obsessed with the 73 RS or BBII. I say keep it stock and go tailles or Carrera tail.

No, the duck is just an overall cleaner design. The whale tails of each time are "too much" of something even if effective.

Duck or no tail. I have a factory turbo-look with a duck, and I am going to prepare a regular decklid to switch when I feel like it.

Just never been a fan of the turbo tail. The classic lines of a 911 coupe without a tail is my personal favorite.

tough one.

I am curious about that, has anyone fitted one to a Carrera or SC? Or is that's what's going on in the photo?

I think that B.A.wrote a report on the duck -or in his book that the dwn force allowed was pretty good compared to none. The body at the rear lifted 4 to 5 inches w.o. one. In an other aplication the drag from a turbo somtimes outways it usefullness....Soooooooo

sooooo, take the best of both worlds with a carrera tail

Whatever you do, keep a chin spoiler up front.

Does anyone have the width measurements of the different tails?????
I have a very narrow 77 and don't want anything too wide looking from the front.... May do a one piece fiberglass for track days......Carrera not tea tray
Thanks
