No I don't. I'm sure I've seen his car, though...perhaps at the summer concours put on by Taj? Is this his car...?

PCA member for some time now (1995). Although it's a running joke with us that everytime there's something I/we want to go to, a family gathering pops up that takes priority. (We have a pretty close family) So I don't get to many of the events. I've actually done more with John Meyer's informally assembled "early gruppers" than all of the PCA combined. I'm afraid when it comes to DEs and AutoXs, I've only been a wallflower at this point. (Probably fear of breakage...but I have no REAL excuse for not jumping in.) That WILL change before too long, though.

I'm a regular participant on Rennlist and jump over here occasionally to see what's up. Since my project is on hold and my daily driver is a Boxster, there isn't much reason for me to post on a frequent basis! (I'm no expert, so I can't contribute much other than my experiences anyway.) But rest assured, I'm readin'....

Dave's car is beautimus...I remember spending many minutes drooling over it at the Taj concours. Man these early cars look good in black!

Cheers!

Just you two and Eric. You will all be subject to land use, UGB, recycling, keeping out others, and etc.

Actually, you are required to bring lesbians with you if you move to Eugene or most parts of Portland. There are exceptions avaialable if you move to the rural parts of the state.

A few things,
1st: I don't mind having my thread hijacked, my entire life is one tangent taking off from the next....

2nd: Hey this is MY thread and I'm not welcome out west????
What gives???

3rd: Doug that silver 911 with the logo is beautiful, do you know who's it is ??

4th: Yeah, I have lots of ideas of what to do with the car.
Mine will NEVER be concours like that silver one, I don't even want it that way! There are a list of things that should be done and things I want to be done.

should: suspension bushings, motor/trans mounts, tune up (valves)

wants: exhaust, R tail lights, side script, 7x15 Fuchs

I think I'll drop the engine since it's winter and have no hurry to have it "together" to do the mounts and maybe even check out the clutch. Also take this time to check out what the bushing job will entail since I have no idea... I can just see the ones on my sway bars (front and rear) are broken down pretty bad.

Any suggestions on mounts, there's several styles out there. I'm thinking something mid range. I don't want the solid metal ones to thrash my frame, if they would...

Does somebody make a full "kit" of bushings for the '70 911??

I still have some parts in Colorado (like that does me any good right now) like torsion bars, tuned exhaust (which needs cleaned), another (new) distributor. Since I will be getting the tuned mufler, I'm really kind of leaning toward the megaphones, I really love the look, and figure I'll only put them on once or twice a month for Auto-X to make it SOUND like I can keep up with the 3.6's...

Blah... I'm done, gotta go study some more...

PS, I'm in for a get together after Jan 1, my place is open too... (just north of you Doug)

Sure, you're welcome out west -- but we were talking about the west coast.

To compensate for hijacking your thread you are now entitled to 1 pint of good micro-brew, or a taste of Pinot, or some goat cheese - your choice.

the silver 911 i believe is bob tiltons.. awsome car!!! i cant wait to fially see it in person.

Doug.. partin out the black 912 eh? there are a few things i would like if you have em.. ill send you a PM later today.

Richard, welcome to pelican! i think i talked to you at the taj this year.. i think you were at the auto-x too? im the little twerp with the 912.

im in the same dilema.. i love to drive my 912.. especially long road trips (this will be my 3rd year in a row driving to the 912 rendezvous out in cali!). but i also wanna hot rod the sucker. im planning on rebuilding with a pretty hot 912 motor (well as hot as you can get with a 912). hoping for 130 or 140 hp.. so ill be tearing down my original motor soon. in the mean time im gonna be buying a used running mill to last me a year or two while i do it. since ill have a powerful motor ill want some sport seats, lighten it up a bit, r tail lights, maybe some cibie hood mounted lights to complement the grill lights.. center fill gas tank, and minilites. gotta have a bursch with a swap out & bolt on stinger.. to scare little kids in the neighborhood, show off at the car shows, and to show off the the auto-x's (which i plan on doing more of once my motors rebuilt).. this spring im getting the suspension set up on her.. thankfully she will finally get lowered to a better stance.

but the problem lies in this.. i wanna be a bad ass.. but i do all this long distance driving to events and gatherings and so forth.. its gonna make it way less comfortable so i gotta figure out a happy medium somewhere.

Richard, do a search for Bob Tilton and his car, it's truly stunning. Very inspiring for project dreamers like myself.

And of course you're welcome out west! ...just bring lesbians.

Doug, I'm in West Chester also- surprised I haven't seen you around.

My 1970E has attained the battle hardened racer look. Guards red, no rockers or other adornement such as interior. Grey spatter coated interior, 22/28 Torsion bars, Weltmeister sways, 6&7 polished fuchs.

Count me in for the post holiday get together. Might be in the middle of an engine drop for me, though.

Eric, Still have the cage? I might be interested.

More hijacking... Is that a dream or dejavu? Doug, your old '88 is getting a biatchin' suspension refresh at the moment then its going on a diet. I've also got some fresh 16 7's and 8's in boxes just in from Al Reed. I'm really gonna try to make you feel bad about selling that car.

Portland, eh? Nice. I'm really trying to figure out how to keep up my current lifestyle without interupting it with 'work'. If you figure it out.. let me know!

Yeah, I'm thinking selling that car was a mistake. Means to an end, however. I couldn't have gotten the Boxster w/o selling the '88. And I still say the Boxster is a better "all around" car. But I miss driving a 911. LOVE the Boxster...MISS the 911. *sigh*

The only thing I can think of right now is that lottery thing. Unfortunately, everybody has the same damn idea, so odds are against me. Dammit. But if I think of anything, I'll let you know.

Keep that car rockin'!

Well, since we are totally off topic now....

"i wanna be a bad ass..."

I've got cognitive dissonance here -- first, it's a 912 -- second, it surely has an SYF or other Deadhead badgery. No way can you make it as a bad ass.....

And, BTW I always put a wheel & roses sticker on my vehicles. {To get back to the R topic... I'll note that it weighs less than two grams.}
