16x8 930 wheel/tire question

I have searched the archives but cannot seem to find an answer to my question.

Will a 245/45x16 tire mounted on a 16 x 8 Fuchs 930 wheel fit on an SC. What mods will be needed to make it fit. I have been told it will rub the oil line and the fender.

Yes indeed, 16x8 and 16x9 930 wheels with 245's are a bolt on for the rear.

The tires/wheel combo fit on my 84' Carrera with one little problem. About a week after they were installed I noticed I now had a shiny spot on the two oil lines just to the rear of the theromstat in the right rear wheel well. I solved the problem with 10mm spacers(one on each side!) that I had gathering dust in the garage. They still clear the fender lips(close, but not touching, nor any evidence of a touch).

That's the first time that I have ever heard of 930 +15mm 9s rubbing the oil line.

In this diagram you can see how far inboard the 9s will be. For the +19mm 9.5s the oil line will certainly need to be relocated.

Bill, I appreciate the diagram. My 84' has the 16x8 Fuchs wheels on the back. When I had the 245/45 16 Yokos mounted it looked close, but I thought it was clear of the oil lines and the fender lip. However, the shiny spots caught me by surprise. I painted the spots black, mounted the spacers(10mm) and remounted the wheels-no problems since. The car is absolutely stock in all aspects of the suspension-maybe the rubbing occured during the action of the suspension moving through its range of motion. These tires feature a rim-protector that protrudes slightly beyond the actual rim edge, which may account for the rubbing. Anyway, I like the setup and the tires.

Curious I wonder if the 245/45 on 8s were flexing more than is normal They should have more clearance than the 9s which I have never heared or seen any sort of issue w/

Anyone have a clear pic of how much a 245/45 bulges on an 8" rim
compared to a 9" ?
