Is it possible to lock/unlock the door with the key or the lock button while the door is open? Or can you only lock/unlock when the door is closed?
A few days ago I tired to lock/unlock the door when it was open and thought the lock mechanism was broken. Just spent hours removing the darn thing. After I cleaned it up an played with the mechanism it dawned on me that it probably is not designed to be locked/unlocked while the door is open! Can some one please confirm I just spent several hours ripping my door apart for nothing? Thanks.

I will never forget how confused I was the first time I tried to lock my car right after I bought it.

I must admit, I too thought I had a problem...they must have known people like me might lock our keys in the car
