I need a good switching!....

Actually, I need a toggle switch that will mount thru the dash in a 911 SC. All of the toggles that I have been able to find have a threaded nose that is about 1/2" long and I need one that has a threaded length of about 3/4" long. Any and all leads, ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

I have seen long ones like you are seeking. I believe that it was in some military gear.

I might try an electrical supply house or Graingers.

I also would repost this thread. There are several posters that work as technical buyers that probably haven't seen your request.

The switch in question will only be used as a manual trip for an oil cooler fan relay. The amperage that it will have to handle will be very minimal. I want to install it in an SC dash just to the right of the steering column. There is a covered hole for some sort of switch in that location. The metal backing is already drilled with a 1/2" hole and the cover material is a soft foam.

Fred,

I wired mine up using the stock foglight switch. If your car has foglights, might be worth ditching them to keep the dash clean. If not, perhaps you can get a factory foglight switch from a later model. That way it would not look as aftermarket.

Why not use the location between thw left two gauges....square hole is aleady in-place ( covered by vinyl) used for the rear wipers for cars that have them. All cars have the "hole". I found a small, lit switch at NAPA that fits perfectly...choice of red, blue or amber. Used amber. Located right next to the oil gauges so it's also at the right "spot"...

Thanks to everyone for the tips and suggestions. After spending most of a day running around the Atlanta area looking for a toggle switch with a longer than normal threaded section (with no luck!) I went to a small hardware store here in South Georgia and found what I was looking for! So I now have a cooling fan on the fender mounted Setrab oil cooler that is thermostatically controlled and has a manual overide! I love it when a plan comes together! Now, on to installing the Pro Cooler that Santa left under the Christmas tree. We (both me and the engine) are going to be cooler next summer!
