At the risk of getting an EE upset at something I might be missing, I'll just bring up one concern with that. (Thinking out loud, really...)

If you use a 6 ohm at every corner, the flasher isn't seeing 6 ohms, as it sees more than one resistor in parralel. (If you put two 6 ohm resistors together, you end up with 3 ohms, and so on)

Try doing it up near the flasher.

Here's a kit they sell for this type of thing.

this might work- freightliner sells a small motorized flasher -it rotates inside rather then typical flasher where heat lifts arm...

Jake, maybe I am just demonstrating my lack of rains, but I am confused by what you have said? As long as you have a 6 Ohm resistor between each hot bulb wire and earth, then you are supplying the correct load for each bulb as far as the relay is concerned. It does not mater where you physically place the resistor as long as it is between the hot wire and earth (ie. somewhere between the fuse and the bulb).

Here is a good example from the site that you posted a link to, demonstrating the installation of the resistor http://www.customdynamics.com/load_equalizer_install.htm I will assume that this pack contains 2 resistor with a common earth connector.

Or are you suggesting that the relay should be fitted in series with each bulb and not in parallel with each bulb??

ok I have Rays 911R lamps mounted but need reverse lights. I have looked at American Superlight and found the 2.5" round LED units...but none of them are clear lense with white light. I want to mount them in my reflector using the gromet like the 911R units. Anyone have a source?

Like this but in clear with white light:

IIRC Ray was able to supply me with a pair of clear lamps. Check with Ray if you haven't already.

k9handler 07-17-2006 05:46 AM

thanks will PM Ray.

will the dude ( Ray ) step up here ? I neeed, I want , I need now evvven. I sent a pm, smoke signals etc

Jack Olsen 10-16-2006 04:06 PM

What about the guy Andy in the UK? The lenses are off-the-shelf units in Europe -- something like 9 pounds each. TRE Motorsports has also carried them.

afterburn 549 10-16-2006 04:14 PM

9 lbs ??? ea ?? mabe you mean 9 oz?? at any rate will try try thanks

afterburn 549 10-17-2006 07:14 AM

found your web sight. will order today, thanks !!

afterburn 549 10-17-2006 07:15 AM

as a side note......W.D. if you stocked these I would have bought them from you

k9handler 10-17-2006 10:47 AM

Sorry it's been awhile since I chimed in...ray did get me the clear units to use a reverse lights and they work very well. THANKS to Ray and to Chris for the lights.

afterburn 549 10-17-2006 11:00 AM

just ordered them from Cris .. not to slight this sight (MOM ) maybe W.D. should carry these too ??? HAY Wayne ???????????????????????????

cstreit 10-18-2006 05:27 AM

Wayne carries the original style 911R lights with the factory Hella incandescents. I'm carrying Ray's LED style.

Hmm... I found them a fairly tight fit, and you can see that Shawn's fit pretty well. THe variation in his is due to the fiberglass bumper. SW, do you have the rubber seals on both top and bottom?

thrown_hammer 10-18-2006 06:26 AM

I invented R lights.

I have Ray's R-Type LED lights, which I bought through Chris Streit. The workmanship and fiberglas are excellent and I'm happy with them. Two caveats: If you expect the LEDs to be blow-you-away superbright, you'll be disappointed. They're probalby slightly brighter than incandescents, but not that much.

Also, the fiberglass units fit a bit loosely in the big taillights holes above the bumper. They're held in place simply by the two screws, and one of the screws goes into a slightly kludgy "adapter" that allows for a bit of floppiness. I suppose I could stuff in some thicker gasketing and fix the problem, but currently, I can grab the fiberglass units and move 'em up and down about a quarter-inch.

afterburn 549 10-18-2006 08:09 AM

Well I will give them a critique when done too.
Did someone else fit them for you (and perhaps got too happy with a grinder?)

Formerly Steve Wilkinson 10-18-2006 08:49 AM

Fit them _for_ me??? Hey, i'm Self-Sufficient Man.

afterburn 549 10-18-2006 08:57 AM

Hmm...an adapter? I didn't receive any mounting adapters with mine. What do the adapters look like?

Thanks,
-Scott

Formerly Steve Wilkinson 10-19-2006 09:47 AM

The adapter is an extra $20 and is listed as "Deluxe Adapter," as I remember. It looks like a stick of fibgerglass about four inches long.

cstreit 10-19-2006 10:30 AM

The adapters were out for new tooling for a few months I believe.

PcarPhil 10-19-2006 10:37 AM

Any pics of these adapters? I'm wondering if they're worth ordering to make the housings fit more snug.

cstreit 10-19-2006 12:21 PM

I'll see if I can get some.

k9handler 10-20-2006 10:37 AM

I used a tap and simple made screw holed in the metal where the old mounting bracket sits...the outer mounting points required nothing special. As for fit they are tight...no movement at all and I did use the original seal on the bottom between the light unit and the bumper.

afterburn 549 11-01-2006 07:43 PM

Ok here is my critique . The fit is awesome correct. The holes need to be drilled ( b4 paint). To install- get the longest 10/24 SS you can get ( could not find metric fast enough in my hurry) get plastic nuts for them too (ACE) pull off the backing plat nut holders and replace with the new plastic nut. Place you new R part up there and stick the screws in and you will see that the inboard tab needs to be shoved inboard just a little. and bent to the rear of the car. The out Bord tab needs a tweek too.
Other then that will screw right in to the old mounting spots. PURRFECT.
My only complaint is as far as brightness.....hope the wind dose not blow the candles out. (LOL)
I have a big 3rd brake lt...........but will look around for some better lights to go with these AWSOME R parts.....no grinding or fitting required, just some fuzzz off the inside about 20 sec with 40 grit.

Jeff Alton 11-01-2006 08:10 PM

Whose lights did you buy? LED or incandescent?

Cheers
