Engine type?

My '75 911S has engine number 6152262 and engine type number 911/43 or the 43 may be a 48. Does anyone know if that is the correct engine for my car? It has an 11 blade fan with a sticker indicating it conforms to 1977 emissions standards....

Thanks!

I'm guessing what you mean is engine # 6452262/43 which according to the red book is 911 S (USA 49 State) of which 2,310 were produced. The engine # 6152262 doesn't seem to match up. The 6452262/43 -
90-millmeter bore x 70.4- millimeter stroke
2.7 liter, 2,687 cc
k-jetronic fuel injection
air pump emissions control
165 hp at 5,800 rpm
167 ftlb torque at 4000 rpm

*designated 911/48 with sportmatic (tranny)

hope that helps.

Kelly,

Welcome to the Forum. It is customary to post pictures of your 911.

According to my ’75 Factory Spec Book the engine is a ’75 normal 911 (not S or Carrera).

Engine Nr. 6152262

6 = 6-cylinder
1 = 911 (not S….)
5 = 1975
2262 = sequential number

The Type number doesn’t jibe.
Type 911/41 is the normal 911
Type 911/42 is the 911S
Type 911/43 is the 911S/C (USA)
Type 911/44 is the 911S/C California

911/46, 47, 48, and 49 are Sportomatics as above.

911/83 is the 2.7 Carrera 210 HP.
930/50 is the 3.0 Turbo.

Carefully inspect the numbers. See if they look original or any sign of tampering.
What is the VIN on the chassis? Inspect it in four places; driver’s door jamb decal, chassis stamping to right rear of fuel tank, aluminum placard ahead of the RF shock tower, and drivers windshield post. If something turns up suspicious, there is a hidden number.

Best,
Grady

I haven't started in earnest on the engine yet. I can make it run for a few moments by spraying gas down the throttle bodies, which tells me the FI needs work. there was some corrosion on the body, most of which I have repaired since September. No corrosion on anything structural, tho.

I am just finishing up the front steering, brakes and suspension work, and will start on the rear brakes and suspension next week. Then I will have to decide if I want to tackle the FI myself, or farm it out. Here is a pic of the front steering brakes and suspension build for one of the front wheels.

Thanks for the interest!
