"quick reply" vs "post reply" button

the quick reply area at the bottom of each thread seems to take a very long time to post the reply, and more often than not, i get dumped by AOL while it's hanging there. i've taken to quickly copying what i posted, if it hangs, to keep from having to rewrite it if i get dumped. on the other hand, the post reply button to a separate page works quite well. am i just a victim of AOL? does the quick reply require more work from the server, or whatever, in order to function? am i alone here?

I don't know. I can tell you that I am not on AOL and I have never had that problem. Let's see if this quick reply works OK.

John,

Have the very same problem with Cox cable, and had it last week in a Marriott using STSN, so its not AOL.

I do the same "cut and paste" as you do or just give up and hit the Post Reply button and have not had the same problems with it.

works fine on dial-up...I think you spotted the problem. Quick reply works best for us on dial-up...

same problem - now (on cable, not AOL) and various times when I had dial-up

I think it is Wayne's server which has been acting up again recently after a few days w/no problems

Pelican BBS has been acting a little funky lately. I've had it hang while posting a reply, and just act slower than it used to. I got some sort of "Network busy" message today during a posted reply. Whatever's going on, hopefully Wayne's on top of it.

I've had several "Post Quick Reply" attempts time out off and on over several months. As mentioned earlier, they always seem to post, I just get the error message.

I am here at work on T-? lines so if it fails here, it's a non-ISP problem.

Another problem I see is that it often won't take me back to the right place in the thread (the last post made & last one I read)

JW, I just did a quick reply that wouldn't take. The Post Reply worked fine. Normally either works just fine. AT&T.
