Mine are Zimmermans also, and there are indeed a right and left part number. Thats why I asked if they are spiraling in the right direction on the other side. If the right side is going forward also, then you have them switched. If the right side is spiraling backwards, then you have two sets of "right" sides. The cooling vanes on the inside of the rotor are directional and correspond to the holes.

Zimmermans different left and right??
Hummm.....I bought these from our host and they are the same on the left and right. Pelican does not list a different part number for left and right sides. I checked a few other sources and they also only list one part # for the front and one for the rear. I also checked the cast in cooling vanes in the rotors. They are purely radial and do not align with the drilled holes in the rotor. I believe the hole pattern is somewhat misleading. The swirling pattern of the holes looks like the aerodynamic shape of a rotor passage in a centrifugal compressor. However given that the cast in passage in the rotor is radial, the hole pattern should function the same fleft or right. I don't know why my Zimmermans are different than Rattlesnake's. Maybe they changed the design. Anyone else have any experience with this?? |

That has got to be one of the most beautiful car I have ever seen.

That is a spectacular car! Awesome job.
On the Zimmermans, I found that they cracked on my M3 after being on the track for one day. Not sure if you are going to track this car (it should be tracked) but I would go with slotted rotors for peace of mind. What I've found with directional rotors is that one side will have a part # ending in an even # and the other will be odd. Look along the hub to find the manufacturer's part number. Also, a lot of rotors come with L or R stamped on them. If the vanes point radially outwards from the hub then there is no specific direction (work the same either way). But on cars like the M3 the vanes are swirled (curved). This acts like a turbine (pump) pulling the air out of the center of the rotor faster than the straight radial vanes. Then you have to be careful of the direction. Keep those beautiful photos coming. Tristan |

Really stupid question coming, in the fourth picture from the top, what is the black bar or tube (it appears) exiting the left rear wheel well? My apologies, I am a lurker and learner.

There are no stupid questions for this board, that is a factory fender brace. It bolts to the fender and the part you are seeing bolts to the body through the engine compartment. ![]()

Curious why you didn't schutz the front and rear wheel housings like the rest of the underbody? Seems like there's a high probability for stone chips there.

Quick question: Is that a aftermarket/custom tow hook? Where are the wire bar hook loops near the front suspension covers? ![]()

Not a lot new to report. I'm struggling with the rewiring and will be putting out a detailed post soon asking for some advice. I'll include some pictures of the front trunk compartment and anything else you guys would like to see.
The tow hooks are OEM as far as I know and the lift is from Team Lift out of Texas. |
