				Trans temp sending unit/gauge help

I found some great threads on trans gauges and cooling solutions in the archives, good stuff guys. I like the idea of mounting the sending unit in a drain plug, but the only version I can find is the allen style, which doesnt work for this application. Anyone have one they want to sell?

The other option for the sending unit seems to be the external type that you clamp to the outside of the case. I've searched and searched and cant find details on guage compatability and/or where to buy one. Not ready to drill into the case of my 915 I am looking at all options. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Chris Last edited by VincentVega; 02-20-2005 at 05:05 PM.. |

I have a temp gauge on mine, but it's not something you really need once you learn the basic facts: 1) Your tranny will get really hot on a track, especially if you have a limited slip. 2) Your tranny will not get very hot in street driving (with the possible exception of extended 140-mph runs on the autobahn).

If you're just curious, you could get the decals that change color when you hit a particular temperature. ![]() They're stick-on nonreversible horizontal 4-temp labels with a range of 175 F to 250 F degrees. Packs of ten of them sell for $14 here. Look for part number 5951K44, and then click on 'catalog page' to see all your options.

Thanks Jack, much appreciated. After reading some of your past threads I really want to know what my temps are on track. The car has LS, w/ a 3.6 and 7.3:1 915. I plan to install a cooler/pump, the guage will just make me feel better.
