Do Carrera and Sc Calipers take same pads
I bought some rebuilt carrera calipers for a slight upgrade on the SC. Will my SC pads fit the carrera calipers?

OK - What's the difference between them. The carrera pads are notched for a wear sensor, but since I'm using them on an Sc I won't run a wear sensor.
Are they a different shape or overall size? Jeff

I believe it's the overall size and shape. Use Pelican Parts as a reference for applications.

I think I paid $175 - $200 for the pair - rebuilt.

The SC pads WILL fit your new Carrera calipers. The only difference between the two calipers is that a spacer was put between the caliper halves to increase the width for the wider rotor (24mm vs 20mm wide). The only difference between the stock pads for each car is the notch for the wear sensor that is part of the Carrera. Most performance pads don't have this notch anyway and most of these sensors have been removed anyway.
When I upgraded to my Carerra calipers I was able to reuse my Hawk HP Plus and Blue track pads without issue. You will also find that most high performance pads list the same pad for both applications. Noel

BTW, you will also need to upgrade to the Carrera rotor as part of your upgrade. Not just the caliper.

Thanks...Thats what prompted the question. I was looking at Hawk pads and the part numbers were the same. I have a the rotors as well. How much street vs track do you do with your car. I'm interrested in how you like your current suspension setup. I've got the carrera sway, and I've been thinking hard abot 22/28 torsions since I'm going to do the elephant polybronze...I've got it all opened up. I thought about stock torsion with the upgraded sways, b/c I do mostly street driving with maybe 3 DEs per year. Anyway, how much do you use your setup on the street and how do you like it? edit............ Oops other guys beat me to it. I had to go out to the garage and check pads just be sure I wasn't full of it.
![]() Actually, the SC pads do indeed fit the Carrera calipers without any hassle/modification whatsoever. The size and shape of the pads are the same. Only difference between the two is the notch in the pad assy. for the wear sensor. The difference between SC and Carrera brakes is in the: -Rotor thicknesses. SC = 20mm front & rear. Carrera = 24mm front & rear -Caliper width. SC uses std. front "A" caliper (48mm pots) & std. "M" rear caliper (38mm pots). Carrera uses wide "A" in front (also 48mm pots) and wide "M" in rear (42mm pots) So the end result of the above two details is that the narrower SC (or larger Carrera) rotors and narrower (or larger Carrera) SC calipers dimensionally negate each other, in the sense that you can use the same pads from either the Carrera or the SC. I can add that the bigger torsion bars are a nice upgrade. I have 22/29 on my car with HD Bilstein front and Sport Bilstein rear. Ride is not too harsh at all. Feels taut and responsive when compared to the softer, floatier feeling of the stock stuff. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

I found a company that sells rebuilts for $ 75 for fronts and $ 55 for reats and then gives you $ 10 for your cores.

I love my suspension setup. The key to it is the revalved Bilsteins though. The ride is actually less harsh now then it was with my stock Bilsteins and stock torsion bars. It is firmer now, but less harsh over bumps. If you have Bilsteins (Green) on your car now, you can simply mail them back to Bilstein in CA and they will rebuild them and revalve them to your specs based on your torsion bar sizes and weight of the car. Prices range from $65-75 per shock plus shipping to and fro. I don't drive the car much on the street. It is mainly a weekend car/ track car. In fact, I haven't driven it since November and really want to get it out. ![]() I would recommend the torsion bar upgrade. Using larger sway bars with stock torsion will put more stress on your rear sway bar mounts and you greatly increase the risk of ripping one out. BTW, Jeff, were you thinking of selling your car recently? If so, I think you talked with my buddy Jay.

KTL - Thanks for going to the trouble. My current pads have 90% left on them I was hoping i wouldn't have to toss them. Noel - I was very seriously going to sell my car for a 993. I found a great '95 Artic Silver LSD w/ 21,000 miles. Bone stock. Damn fine car. The problem was it didn't replace my 81 3.6. I missed the raw feeling of my 81/3.6. Hell I missed the acceleration of my car. It's much faster. I'm sure the 993 would smoke my car in the turns, but in the end it just didn't do it for me. I'm sure I'll sell it one day, just not today. Also thanks for the PM, I'm sure I'll be bugging you for advice as I accumulate parts. Thanks Jeff
