Exclamation * Help design my widebody 79SC 3.6 *

Time to get some big rubber under the SC.

Stats: 79SC chassis, 3.6 engine with 280 RWHP.
Trans rebuilt & regeared. JRZ shocks. Chassis almost set except Elephant goods in one month. RS 3.8 tail. 934 or RUF F&R bumpers. Glass hood, fenders, bumpers. Most of you know this by now and are familiar with my car.

BUT....the question I have for the list is this:

Widebody. I want 275 front/315 rear in 17"
How do I go about this - in particular:

Wheels - spacers? Combo of spacers and wheel offset?
All offset and no spacers? - this would be fine with me.

How abou the rear flares - any 'exposed fastener' look you've seen that looks sharp? Until I see otherwise, I'll go with 930 flares - but different is always good.

Should I go with Kinesis with red centers?

Opinions, pictures, etc all welcome.
THX

I appreciate the links and ideas - keep em coming!

I was thinking of an all fiberglass 934 style nose with this look for the fenders:

Scott Daiger (local guy) running 285/335 on 18s (!)

What about the spacer/wheel offset issue?
I just do not know the answer -

Clearly (as if I have any authority ) you are going to have to get turbo rear trailing arms with brackets appropriately welded onto your torsion bar tube. the fronts i am pretty sure you just need turbo hubs on your SC spindles.

What an amazing car you will have!

Hey thanks for the good words. It is a 10 footer now, the underpinnings are nice, but it looks pretty beat up from track 'offs' and in need of a
diet - and more tire.

More inspiration and ideas needed - !

You've seen princeton's beast, right? Though it's originally a 993, you should still be able to get some good ideas from it. That's the only car i know on the board that has the "exposed fastener" flares.

I have always loved the 934 look, but it is just to wild for the street. I went with the early turbo/iroc body style. Believe me, you can get some big tires under there when you are finished. Good luck with your project.

For a street/track car I would consider steel flares.
If it was to be made light something like this.

Glad you finally bailed on the narrow body car....good move.

Your are not going to love this. Take a look at the suspension mods Tyson and TRE did to BBII. You can add the wheels and tire but you miss much of what is really useful on a track car by not adding the right setup underneath.

A wide set of wheels on a narrow body car isn't going to gain you all you'll want I suspect.

All that said I think these look good:

I really like the TRE 934 nose - but is it too low for street use?

This front end will probably be complemented by 930 flares F&R.
Not sure I dig the 3.8 tail....maybe it'll grow on me -

I've had the threaded body JRZs installed which are ready for coil overs if I choose. This includes the raised spindle struts with 2 degress of negative camber built in. I mentioned we are installing the complete Elephant Racing setup in a month.

Am I missing something that is a must-do?
