Engine Bay color (1970)

Hi

I recently saw an early 911 (1970 2.2) with the engine bay painted black (the car isn't black), can anyone confirm if this is standard or does it indicate and engine bay respray?

Thanks

Neven

yup

It's my understanding that 1970 & 71 had their engine bay painted flat / semigloss black over the body colour. The 3 1970s I've had all had black engine bays. I think it was left body colour starting in 1972.

Regards,
Andrew M

My 70 S was body color under hood and engine compartment when I bought it, 1989.
It had been (poorly) repainted at that time, but I don't know why the PO would have had the underareas painted (AlbertBlue) instead of leaving them alone...
So, I think some 1970 cars were all one color - perhaps Karmann factory or something??
