A/C Delete Question
Hi all, I've sort of started the quest of lightness and pulled the A/C this weekend, and face it, it's a Targa who needs A/C?. Well I've got everything out except the mounting bracket for the compressor. It looks like it has a couple mounting points down below, near the muffler. Do I have to remove the muffler to get this off? I'd like to realize the benifits of the extra room on that side of the motor for my first ever valve adjustment in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks, Kris

I don't think I was able to get my AC bracket off without removing my muffler.

You guys will see the two bolts that attaches the backet as soon as you remove the muffler.

Anyone have an a/c bracket for a 2.7 that holds a rotary style compressor they would like to sell? Joel

You need the old bracket plus an adapter bracket. PORSCHE never installed a rotary compressor in any of their cars. They used a wobble plate compressor for their later cars.

Sanden to York
Go to ebay and do a search on sanden and york. I brought a bracket on ebay from a store in texas that allow you to mount a Sanden compressor where a York compressor was previously used.
My old york is still working, so I haven't done the conversion, but I also brought a seiki seiko compressor with bracket on this forum. |

The other guys are correct about the compressor bracket on a Carrera. However, for SC guys reading this thread, this only applys to Carreras. The bracket on the SCs can be removed without removing the muffler.

OK AC Delete guys: When you removed the compressor bracket from your 3.2, what did you do about the little rectangular hole that was left in the tin behind the engine?
(a) Nothing (b) Pop-rivet a scrap of aluminum in there (c) Special order non-AC rear tin from Germany at huge expense, then pull engine in order to replace it. Thanks! |

I left the hole in mine, but on an SC it really isn't a very big hole.

I cut a piece of sheet metal to fill the hole on mine. I don't know if it's necessary (for proper air flow) or not, but I just didn't want the hole there.

I've asked this before but never got an answer. Will the later style aluminum compressor bracket mount on a 3 liter SC engine?
