1972 2.4 T MFI: wrench told me to install 74S distributor and pertronix

A very respected wrench told me that if I want to improve the performance of my 72 2.4 MFI T to install a 74 S distributor as well as pertronix. Does this make sense? What would the S distributor do? How about pertronix? Thanks. I | ||

The '74 normal or 'S' distributor has exactly the same specs and advance curve as your stock '72 distributor! Adding a pertronix trigger will do nothing to enhance the power level of your engine! That person is attempting to blow smoke up your southern region! Whether that happens or not is up to you!!! If your distributor has issues such as worn bushings, or sticking centrifugal advance mechanism ... they can be adressed and remedied!
