new engine done - the end of 4 figure repairs!

my 68L received an engine transplant this weekend which HOPEFULLY marks the end of the 4 figure repairs.

so keeping the following in mind:
1 street driven car
2 no substitute for displacement
3 buy the best engine you can afford
4 SWB
i opted for a 2.7S.

i bought it as a long block which was rebuilt by the well respected and talented Tom Amon of Mobile Works West (a 30 year veteran who literally brings his shop to your doorstep). the 40 IDA carbs were rebuilt and rejetted, intakes bored out, and dist recurved. a 2.7 oil tank was adapted. SSIs and and dansk sport muffler were fitted. various bits and pieces were powder coated but mostly spray painted. finally, R rainshields literally topped everything off.

all in all it's a very fun engine perfect for my needs and most of all budget.

Couldn't you have cleaned it up a little, at least?

That's a motor worthy of your car (one of the best-looking 911's I've ever seen).

I agree! We need a few exterior shots to go with the great looking engine pics!

The photography is great also, those pictures look like they could be in a Gucci ad.

What a phenomenally period-, yet also updated engine. What are the specs?! You could perform surgery on that.

The BEST looking SWB car that I've ever seen, period. Nice work Bob, the engine is as pretty as the outside.

Looks fantastic! Your car is an inspiration.

What are you using for an oil vapor catch tank? It looks like you have a fitting in the top right corner of the first engine picture.

Great looking SWB car Bob. I think the 2.7 was a perfect choice for those of us working on a budget. If you ever get near a dyno, let us know some numbers.....Bob S.

Sweet! That car has got to be so much fun. one qustion, are the internal specs more like a CIS "S" or an early "S", I will assume its the latter.

How many miles yet? Is that rev-limiting breaking just killing you?

Wow, now THAT is truly impressive! Yes, please relate the spec's for this engine? Tell us the story please?

For that matter, some details on the history of your car. Not all that many SWB's out there and very, very few in the condition of yours. Where acquired? Rust issues at purchase, restoration done? Etc.
