front hub collar thingy
I removed my front disks last night and when I loosened the allen bolt in the collar for the front hub I could back it out by hand.
Question: When I reinstall it do I just hand tighten it untill there is no play in the front hub and lock it down? Or should I use channel locks to snug it up then back it off a few times to seat the hub? Gotta love those dust covers! I guess Germans hate dust. ![]()

Too big to fail

I found out the hard way that you don't want it too tight; the bearings expand slightly when they get hot. I ruined a set of bearings in a single track day; ruined is putting it mildly; I had 1/4" of play in the road wheel by the time all was said and done!

Tighten it down to seat the bearing and back it off slightly; just enough to where the slot washer can be moved using a screw driver.
