RS carpet install HELP needed!!!

In my 87, I have the whole kit in except the kick panels and the area under the dash. I have these pieces left. I think #1 and 2 cover the removeable plastic kick panels. But I can't figure out 3 and 4 or their orientation. Where do they go and how? If you can tell me where and give me how far to rotate it clockwise, that would be a huge help. Please no guesses.

And yes I have searched, read, and checked the instructions on the Rallystuff sight, and Bob Tilton's sight, but I think the 87 kit has more pieces.

I suffered throught he same dilemma. I contacted the mftr
http://appbiz.com/ and they sent me a worksheet key which sorted out the pieces and installation order. I looked for it but probably tossed it some time ago.

One hint. The package shelf has lots of dips and bumps which make it difficult to attach the carpet. I went to home depot bought some thin carpet padding, I put it down first and then attached the carpet. Came out nice.

just thought of something - my kick panel pieces had vinyl trim for the door edge. my set was from OFI. i see that your pieces do not. personally i think basic instructions should be included with the kits even if it's a crude photo copied drawing.

Hey guys,
Thanx for ringing in again, Bob. You plugged my Corbeau seats when I sold them. Seems we have similar tastes.

I'll call Bob at Appbiz and I'm sure he can clear this up. But the differences between years are apparently significant. I'll critique the lack of instructions too. Tetris...great analogy. I've been doing the same with the cutouts and notches in those pieces and every way in my car, still can't get it. All that is left is from the sills forward. So it has to be the kick panels and the footwell areas, just can't make em fit. I'm prepared for a big "aha" when I call Bob tomorrow. Stby for more...

1 and 2 are for covering the panels that your aux blower motors are behind. The ones just in front of your doors in the footwell. THe rear kick panels are not recovered, they are replaced by carpet. Those pieces have a small seam in them where they bend and change shape. I will go out and look at mine in the morning....

Those do not match the shape of any of the carpet pieces in my RS kit... that said, the two pieces that cover the sides of the footwell were the hardest ones to install, involving a lot of cutting and tucking. They were a real pain, enough so that the passenger side one isn't even installed yet two years later.

To some extent you need to just keep moving them around until you find the position that everything fits in.

Man, I wish I could help. My 71 Targa was didnt have any pieces that looked like that. They look like they should have been some of the first pieces installed as I dont see any trim on the edges, so I would think some other piece would cover those edges during install. Front kick panels are a good guess though.

The best way to do this is remove each piece of old carpet
carefully and match them up with the new pieces. Some pieces may not look exactly alike but you should be able to
find a piece to cover it all.

I did this last year and it took me close to an hour to figure out the whole thing before I started installing anything.

I can't remember the placement of the pieces in the pics.
sorry

The original carpet left back in October before I stripped the sound deadening, then sent it to the paint shop. I had counted on at least some sort of instructions to come with the kit, and not as significant a differences between the Rallystuff directions and my kit. No luck.

Well, when looking at the pic that Install425 posted in post #9.

- Piece #IV goes on the driver's side....it is in the lower left corner of the pic by the piece that has slits in it for the brake/clutch pedals......and

- Piece #III goes on the passenger side...it is in the upper left corner of the pic....

- Pieces I an II go in the middle under the dash....they are in the middle on the far left side of the pic
