First pic's of my CIS to EFI conversion on 2.7 Turbo using Tony's kit

I just wanted to post the first picture of my winter project. I am using Tony's EFI kit on my 2.7 Turbo (Modified BAE kit). I just started it up and it seems to be running good. I will hook up a laptop this weekend and see how she runs. I am going to send the pic's to Tony, his kit went together very well.

Looks great Oscar - very clean install.

Looks great Oscar! What a clean engine bay.

This is breaking new ground on simple, cheap turbo conversions for the 911, with modern fuel injection control.

Give me a shout for any tuning help.

Cheers,

oooooh....looking forward to following this thread! kudos, oscar...gonna have before and after dyno numbers to report? what mods did you do to the bae kit? is that with a k27 or k28?

me next! this summer!

very interested in how this turns out!

might need to steal the map from you so i can get a baseline to work from.

GOOD luck!

I am using the original Rajay turbo. I modified a set of BB headers(shortenned them). and custom made a crossover pipe with Flowmaster muffler. Installed Wastegate and MBC. The biggest problem's I think I am going to have will be tuning it. I know very little about this part.

Wow the air box mod looks great! I was thinking about installing Tonys Megasquirt on my 79SC, now Im wiping the drool off my chin. Clean and very impressive looking. I hope we get some dyno#'s. I'm still concerened about tunability.
SWEEEET.

It sure "opens up" the engine bay.

I got one of the g-tech pro gadget's for xmas I am going to see what it will do when I get it on the road. Unfortunately I don't have dyno numbers from before.

That looks great keep us posted on performance #'s . Engine bay is very clean.

Mike Bonkalski 04-22-2005 05:24 AM

You should get a wideband O2 sensor to help with tuning. Most have an output that you should be able to log right to the megasquirt and use those values to help set your fuel map.

Plenty of room for an intercooler in there and no need to run a turbo tail :)

Where is the turbo sucking air from? It might be worth routing the filter into the compartment too.

Exactly what I was thinking. It would be pretty cool to slap a big V8 water-cooled intercooling block on top of the manifold and run its heat exhanger on the air intake grill on the rear deck (like the old A/C exchangers used to). That would really make that intake charge cold. You could bump that manifold pressure waaay up.

Great install! Now get yourself WBO2 kit for tuning and you'll be fine.

dweymer 04-22-2005 11:26 AM

More pics! How about the exhaust + housing mounts. Very Clean install btw.

Alan Cottrill 04-22-2005 12:53 PM

tell us more about the intake plenum.

is it all aluminum, or did you make a plate and attach it to the stock plasic lower part of the airbox?

autoxracer31 04-22-2005 02:48 PM

wow, that is an insanely clean engine. Any thoughts on if tony's kit would work for a factory 3.3 930 motor? that would be a great way to improve the gas mileage on an older turbo! possibly kick up the hp and torque a notch also, i think!

bb 04-23-2005 09:09 AM

I fabricated the airbox from stainless plate, 1-1/2" pipe for the runners, a tig welder and lot's of beer. The airbox was probably the part that took the longest. I will get some more pic's posted. I have all the parts for the intercooler, but I want to get it running and tuned prior to installing it.

-the air comes in at the turbo, I installed a 3" cone "K&N" filter right to the turbo.

AND WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO TUNE THIS MYSELF.

I just hooked up the laptop to it and have no clue what I am doing. I am going to call Tony tonight to walk me through it. Fabricating and the "grunt work" is easy, but computer's suck
