K so I was looking last night how to check the trans fluid level, cause it looks like it has a slow trans leak. How do I check the fluid level. It has the 901 4speed and a 2.0 flat6.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

			1. Go down to the bottom right side of the page and do a search titled 'changing transmission fluid' there should be plenty of info found. 2. Order the '101 Projects for your Porsche' from this site, my daughter gave me one for x-mas a couple years ago and it has been very, very useful.

And be sure you can remove the fill plug before removing the drain plug. A search here will reveal the unfortunate souls who didn't do this.

Like they said.. Remove the fill plug and poke your finger thru it. Not 100% sure on a 69 911 but on my 356 and 993 you tried to see if you finger could reach oil. When refilling, stop when it spits back at you ;-)

So where can I refill the trans fluid, I was looking around the engine and couldn't find it. Is there a location or something not labeled I should be looking for.

Look under your car, find the transmission, the big oily thingy attached to your engine that supports the axles. Look on the passenger side of things, you should see 2 plugs. One at the bottom of the transmission, one on the top of the side of the tranny. The top is the fill hole, the bottom the drain hole. Always undo the fill hole first because you wanna make sure you CAN, else you empty the tranny and you are in trouble if you cannot refill. Then undo the drain plug, collect the crap coming out, check for fuzz on the plug or chuncks inside the hole... CLose the drain plug, refill by using a pump or a piece of hose inserted into the fill hole. Put a gallon of Swepco 201 in there and you are all set ! Stop filling whem it flows out of the fill plug... So yeah, it's all UNDER the car ;-) hence the pump ! Last edited by Deschodt; 04-21-2005 at 11:27 AM.. |
