Ever wanted to shoot your car?

No, not your P-Car..

I would have recommended he use something a little bigger than a .380...but that's just me.

(oops...thought I was in O.T....please feel free to move)

A couple years ago, I organized a big get together at a range outside of Austin. Over 50 people showed up.

A buddy brought a door from a Ford Ranger. We shot the hell out of it. And I learned something.

EVERYTHING bigger than a .22 will penetrate it... at 100 yards!! So if someone is shooting at you, a car is not a good thing to be inside of.

I've been tempted, but I was always afraid of bullet fragments flying around and hitting me!

It's still better to be inside a car than outside when bullets are flying at you. The time it forces through the body panels its force to do you harm has been greatly attenuated (lessened).

I did read in the Road and Track some years ago that the seat of a 911 owner saved him from the shots from a 44 magnum fired at him by his angry wife when she found out he was cheating.

Tsih, she must have been a damn bad shot. A .44 mag would shred a seat in a 911. Then it would go through the back seat, the rear deck, whatever parts of the engine that were in the way, and then out the ass end of the car.

The energy lost by the bullet penetrating thin sheet steel is not significant enough to reduce the wounding capacity of the projectile. UNLESS the round penetrates a frame support or something thicker.

The real bottom line is... DON'T GET SHOT AT!

Teflon coated fry pans make bad targets... I can state this as a fact.

My grandparents live in northern california, creston area and have a large spread of land. On the southern corner there are a couple old POS cars starting to rust apart. My uncles and I went hounting one day and decided after we didnt get anything to just shoot the heck out of the cars. The Barret m982 my grandfather has really did a number on the engine block from a mile away, crazy gun to begin with I have no idea why he even has it. .44mag, 454 magnum, 300 super magnum rifle and a bunch of other guns we have were used to do some "body work". Next time I go up to visit I will take some pictures if my grandfather hasnt removed them already.

p.s. at about 1.25 miles the .300 super magnum was the most accurate, should be since it is basically a sniper rifle, the barrett is just a canon though, never lay down next to one if your not shooting, the exhaust from the muzzle break is scary!

Many years ago my brother who at the time was mechanically challenged, got mad at his 65 corvette coupe and hit it with a very large crescent wrench on top of the left front fender I guess ringht where a fiberglass seam in the car must have been because a split opened up about three feet long in the top of the fender. After that he would just throw his wrench down and spit and cuss at it. Also had a friend who had just put a new scope on his hunting rifle shoot a hole in his hood of a brand new at the time K5 Blazer as he was using the hood as a rest to sight his rifle in, he could see the target through his scope but the end of the barrel was resting on the hood. Oh what a tangled web we young and dumb fools can weave.

If you put a case of starting fluid in the front seat and shoot through the door with a tracer round, the car gets its own funeral pyre.

Of course, I can neither confirm nor deny any firsthand experience with this.

I have a 944 I'd like to shoot right now:

oil pressure problems

Only thing stopping me is the amount of money I already invested in it.

I haven't shot my car, but a couple days ago I hopped in my truck, put her in reverse, and backed right into my wife's Accord...Smasho!

Note to self: When backing out of garage, stop staring at the adjacent 911...look backwards!
