Please help if you can!!!!
OK here is the problem. I have removed my heat exchangers and I broke ALL of the studs! They look like they were some kind of "stretch bolts" as the were quite a bit smaller in the center. All of the studs have broken in the middle so none are flush with the case. What I have tried so far is....penetrating fluid with vise grips, heat with fluid and vise grips and welding nuts to the studs to try and get a grip on them. So with all of the effort I have removed 1 stud. So is there anything else I can try before I remove the engine and take it to the machine shop?

Heat from an acetlyne torch, or mapp gas from a hardware store.

Just keep at it. When you think of the alternative, it's worth hours under there. Here's one more method: Buy a LH and RH Easyout of the proper size. Use a Dremmel to provide a spot for an accurate center punch. Punch and drill the recommended hole size for your EO.
Now, heat and spray; insert LH (actually tightening) and give it healthy nudge (you NEVER want to break an EO off in the stud, you will have to remove the motor then), insert the regular EO and bump it. More heat, more spray and again back and forth. Once you hear it pop loose, you're on the home stretch. Don't be too anxious, tho. You can still remove the threads form the head if you go too quickly. Get it to work free and unscrew it. |

Use the largest easy out that you can put in.You only get one chance. Buy high quality easy outs, don't go for the cheap ones, Snap on=Craftsman, etc., Good luck
