Big sigh .... what a fantastic looking color........happy motoring when you get it on the road
|
Oh, that color rocks! I toured the Kramer Guitar factory when I was 15 and they were just starting to use flip flop red and blue on guitars. I got one of each eventually. Such an awesome paint style. It will look different in every sort of light.

Sweet - I always liked that color.

Jet Blue, Minerva Blue and Zenith Blue are also close in color. Zenith blue is the closest. Paint was such a tough decision. My car's mods not being a replica of any one model gave me the freedom to think a little more "out of the box". Even at the last minute as they were mixing the paint I was thinking it was a big of mistake! Guess the real point is almost any color works on these cars. Porsche proved that over and over again in the '70s. In the end I just wanted a color I liked. Until it was actually on the car I was still undecided. Thankfully, I am more than pleased with the end results. Quote:
So you weren't the only one who thought me nuts to leave off the center fill ;) Quote:

Dane,
This is an awkward question......How much did a paint job like that cost. (materials and labor) I am going to have my 911 painted and I have no idea what the price of a great paint job costs. I want the job done to a high standard. (like your car) If you want to send me an instant message, that is fine. Thanks, Gavin |
my paint cost 8k and that was in southern Indiana....

No center fill , Trend Setter
You have to see this color in person to really appreciate it . front fender profile my favorite, Lookin Good Ya Ive seen it. hehe |

I really need to get my car painted but with the price of paintwork in Germany my car will have to wait a couple more years. I do have an account set aside for just that so all is not lost. |
it was worth it, every penny, you can find the thread with the pics in it if you search. we took the car down to metal.
|
$8K seems like a great deal. I've been quoted twice that for a complete respray a couple years ago. It was a down to the metal job so that was part of the reason for the high cost.
|
I agree, worth every penny and then some. Hard to believe it is really my car now. My original idea was a few small body shop projects and a respray. $20K for a bare metal paint job from a reputable shop is not out of line. (which includes new seals, redone trim, disassembly, dropping the engine, pulling the wiring up front, several miles of sand paper, masking tape and masking paper ect ) Unbelievable amount of time and effort is put into these cars if the paint is done right.
When we figured out my car already had something like 3 or 4 resprays in the last 25 years it was time to go back to bare metal and start again. That gave me the idea of adding a few body work projects that I never thought I'd have the opportunity to do on this car. By the time we were done with the body work the entire car was back to bare metal. Then it was time for a color change. Not the best planning time wise but it worked out in the end. The most important part of my project was having a shop and owner like Mark at Eurotech to follow through and deliver an outstanding finished project. No bs about that. Most shops would have stopped long ago and delivered the project...."unfinished". Painting can be the ultimate "while you're in there" fun project! At some point I decided to build "my" car. The bare metal gave me all the excuse I needed. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115406236.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115406306.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115406349.jpg |
Dane the car looks amazing! It will certainly serve as an inspiration to a lot of us.
|
So that is "just" a standard Glassurit color? It has nothing added to it to get that pearly lustre?
