"months of prep work and miles of sand paper"
- I hereby grant you permission to drive in Oregon (to conflate this thread with the speeding one). |
looks like it's all downwind from here.
looking forward to seeing the finished product! |
|
Very, very nice...... Love the color.

Dane-
That is AMAZING. I really do hope you get it ready for the 15th, as that would definitely be one of the high points of the trip down from Vancouver. I'm also sure that the pics don't do it justice! ...jeff |
Thanks Jeffs....I am hoping but wouldn't put money on it for the 15th. Too close to do it half a$$ now ;)
|
you are going to need a rope around that car to keep people from melting into that paint job...
gives hopes to all those SC's! |

(the rears flares look just right: not too much, not too little) |
Thanks Ed, right on. Funny how most are drawn only to the front flares. The rear flares got the same hammer and dolly treatment and are even bigger in size comparison to the original SC flare.
These are Greg Hnat's new 265/225 Victor Racers on 8 and 9" 16s being used for a test fitment before being shipped off. (honest Greg I haven't forgotten you) Even with an engine's weight back there we'll have all kinds of room under these fenders. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115474744.jpg These are 225/50/15 SO3s on 8" Fuchs with a 1/2 spacer. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115441475.jpg |
The profile of the flares is incredible. The details on this car boggle the mind. Absolutely amazing 911. Done right.
|
these cars do cost a ton, especially when you have to undue someones mistakes like in the case of the resprays on this car. lucky for me, I got a car from someone who did things right, more than right. that allowed me to get away with less money on my paint job and there was not a lot of body work (no need to correct errors) that others deal with. finding someone who takes his time with the prep work is rare indeed...
|
James point well taken.
Not many of the cars at 25 or 30 years old that still look good haven't been resprayed. Not a mistake to respray them. The mistake is doing too many resprays. At some point you need to start over again with bare metal to do it right. I was at that cross roads with this 200K mile car. The car was straight, my body work was all optional. Fun to build the car your imagination dreams up. There are lots of cheap SCs out there in similar condition that would make great project cars to start with. |
Dane,
Do not sweat it. Like I said, I am in no hurry for the wheels and tires. Keep making progress and posting pics. It gives me fuel for working on mine! |
Dane its great to see the progress its going to be so cool to hook up agian in the near future. On another note where you planning on headin south for Jacks North meets South trip? .see you soon Chuck.
|
Uh, this has gone beyond comprehension...
Nice, very, very nice. rjp |
Dane: In looking at that last rear pic, what are you going to do with the rear "sheet metal"-if it's metal at all? Curious as to how you'll match the custom profile.
Can't wait to see her in Sioux Falls in September. Although, I should probably fly up and rent a car, as mine's going to be put to shame;) BTW-the color takes on ANOTHER hue in that one, a purple tint this time. |
Nice try Ed, since you have one of the niciest ducks in Texas ;)
The bumpers are both glass. I started with my old narrow body CRT rear bumper and a new narrow body IROC bumper in front. Both were cut and spliced to fit the new flairs. I was a little surprised at just how easily the guys at Eurotech made it all look. The rear with the first coat of glass on the filler piece. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115497715.jpg This is Sang working on the front after having just cut off the bumper end and clamping it back in place to glass in. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115497761.jpg |
First track rock chip will make ya cry......
Nice. |
