Another RSR Clone Project - Update 10
Today the RSR clone became a roller and saw sunlight for the first time in 1 1/2 years. I am really pleased with the way it's turning out and couldn't resist snapping a few photos and posting an update.
Yesterday I took the Hoosier 275X16 and 245X16 with vintage groove pattern up to Auto Associates to have the wheels mounted and balanced. The front wheels are standard factory 16X9 Fuchs. The rears are a custom 3 piece bolted construction using 16X6 Fuchs as the donors for the centers and BBS inner and outer rims. Auto Associuates finished them with the standard RSR anodized look using paint and clearcoat. This week I also installed the RSR door panels from APPBIZ. Overall good quality and fairly easy install. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That's looking really nice! Speaking of Auto Associates, I was looking at some of the cars under their awning at Lime Rock last weekend. They had some beautiful cars that they were taking care of. I especially liked the Crystal Springs car and the orange car with the GT badge.

The color is signal orange. I bought the tires from Roger Krause racing. He did the grooving.

Tom, what is the paint process they use to replicate the RSR look? Satin silver paint followed by clear powdercoat? I'm really chasing that look, but there is no-one who anodises where I live, that paint process could be my saviour

Here's some close-ups of the wheels:
![]() ![]() Fronts are standard 16X9 factory Fuchs. Rears are 3 piece construction using 16X6 factory Fuchs donors for the centers and BBS inner & outer rims. The paint process used included Glasurit catalyzed urethane and a "special" clearcoat that is resistant to brake dust. |

I'd like to add this link to the previous response on paint-finishing the Fuchs for an RSR look--> Economy RSR Fuchs finish ???
..perhaps the folks at Auto Associates can chime-in with more specifics on the paint and process used.. Wil

Absolutely gorgeous!
You probably already have this figured out, but I needed a bunch of body plugs after my respray, which were not readily available (for example, all over the doors), where the window mounting bolts are, etc. I found them at eagleday.com If they are available through Pelican, I couldn't find them elsewhere. If you could find out about the special clearcoat, that would be excellent! I may end up clear coating mine RSR - look wheels. Doug

...and I thought the 16x9's on the REAR of my car were big.

WEVO spring plates would have been an interesting option.

I couldn't find the body plugs there - bumper plugs, spark plugs...
do you have a URL for the page itself?

check out: http://www.eagleday.com/grandbe.html that page is under the general page of electrical and then grommets. Balnks are in there. The access holes around the door are grommet D20 (20mm grommets fit).

Guys
For details on the paint and clearcoat process used on the wheels, it would be best to contact Auto Associates in Canton, CT. Relative to body plugs...I have found almost everything is available from Stoddard including a variety of body plugs ranging from 5 to 30 mm in diameter. Using the PET CD and Stoddard's part search function on their website turned up almost everything I needed. I was amazed at what is still available for these older cars. |

the body plugs I found at Stoddard's are white plastic ones, not rubbery black ones
- did you find the latter? Thx DW for the help with the Eagle Day site - man, they are spendy on a lot of other items!
