Like to lower the car a bit.
1985 Carrera. Std height which I understand USA and ROW were the same by then. Frt. 26" Rear 25 1/2. I would like to try the small adjustment in the rear by adjusting the concentric bolt as described in 101 Projects. Then proceed to the front. If not enough is available this way then I'll think about reindexing the bars. My questions are: How much lowering is available on the back usually, and secondly, are these lower procedures down when there is no weight on the wheel, jack stands etc or ? It may sound redundent, but I just wanted to be sure. Ideas, comments. Thanks.

William,
Movement in the rear depends where they are currently set at. Total ride height adjustment in the rear is around 1 1/4" I'd guess. Jack the car, loosen the locking bolt and then loosen and adjust the ecentric bolt. Don't forget to retighten the locking bolt. You need to bounce or drive the car to settle the rear suspension. I'd then adjust the front since it's very easy. Also, when lowering the rear it will actually slightly raise the front and vice versa. Anyway, both are fairly easy. One tip is to not apply too much torque to the thin wrench as it can deform. Use it more to set and hold the bolt in position. Good luck. John

Thanks for the help! Will I be able to see the radius arm move or be able to tell if the suspension is being lowered or raised while it is still up in the air or only after it is back on the ground.

Yes you can easily see it move, if necessary scribe a line and you can see how much you have adjusted. Remember to lower the car, the arm must raise.
