Actually. many members have helped me with my CIS, and Das Moneypit is on the road again. Still got a few probs, but we'll get to those later.

NOW, for the contest. I maintain the box was bad because of a faulty ground. That being the case, I win. But the judges are tainted and most likely have been paid off. I will enter a suit against this judgement. I will write it up while having coffe at McDonalds. If I scald myself there, you pay more. I will then move on to Wendy's and have a cup of chile. It better not be 'finger' food or you pay more.

Do you have liability insurance and errors and ommisions insurance? Probably not huh? OK, now I'll take your car. Do you have a license to run a lottery? No??? OK, now I want your house.

You refferred to me as 'little buddy'. If you'd ever seen me you would know this phrase cannot possibly describe me. Therefore I can only assume you are refferring to another part of me. OK, that's slander, and I want half you paycheck for the next 20 years.

This is California mister and you're reaaly in for a .......Huh? Lemme check,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Oh, I see you're in Texas. Never mind!

Ok Lefty, now you are just to out of control.

My trouble's continue, yesterday my car died while out cruising. AAA must hate me. Took the cd box off and had it tested. Worked ok, put it on the car, worked ok.

Here's my plan, I have a spare cd box to take with me, if the car dies I will exchange it and see if the car runs. If that doesn't work, I will take the 8mm bolt off the fuel cut off relay in the eng compartment and jump with a short wire. Does anyone else have any ideas in case of trouble?

Ya know,,,it seems to be a heat related issue. Usually two things. Fuel evap, or electronics short when hot. While I'm not an expert on the CD's, it is not uncommon for an electronic ignition system to short when it's hot, and return to operational whern cooled down. Especially if teh box is next to something hot,,,,,like an exhaust or turbo. If your box checked good while cool, this could be an issue. Lots of little electronic doohickies in there that can misfire under heat.

It's not a vapor lock issue, it spark. So according to your note, my plan to take another cd box with me is bulletproof?

It's only bulletproof if it works. I had the exact same issue with a Ford van, and it was my electronic brain box. The heat in the engine compartment finally got to it. Just drive around locally, If you have AC turn it on, and let the motor compartment heat up. Heat is the enemy, and that should tell you a little about the box. If you go for a run, and swap boxes, and the problem doesn't go away, AAA will really hate you.

Plan B is take a cooler and sit on the side of the road while it cools down so you can drive it.

OH yeah,,,,,your coil can also work when cool and not work once it gets hot. Some coils are notorious for this, and lets face it,,,you coil is really close to some serious heat.

I have seen a bad tachometer intermittently short the signal to the coil. I don't know if this can happen with the CDS.

Should the coil only have power to the + side with the car turning over, or with the key on? I can disconnect the tach at the six plug connector at the cd. I believe it's the cd box still, but the back up one will show for sure.

The coil is integral to any ignition system that uses one. If the key is on, the coil is receiving juice.
