I dont mean to highjack, BUUUUTTTT i noticed a few of the guys commented on the early 2GRILL tail, I HAVE AN XTRA ONE JUST LIKE THIS ONE,....... its even freshly painted black,..... if anyone is interested in it, i was gonna put it up for sale...... havent yet.
Alexander, the black is either the most rewarding or simply the worst. It all depends on the condition and how it has been taken care of. In the hands of the wrong person, it can all go wrong. The only thing to do is to sell it and get a lighter coloured car.

Fun is the key, but I want to get to know the beast because I know it could bite me if I am not careful. Note though, this isn't the first turbo I have driven. However, like going to sea, if you don't respect the water it will take your life.

PM me regarding the tail. We’ll talk. I have this overwhelming fear that some one will tag the tail and leave me up a creek looking for a replacement.

David, a man that knows the lightweight turbo. Interestingly enough, the original thermal reators on it were left but gutted out. The weld marks on the circumfrance of the cans showed evidance that they were opened at one point so as not to over heat and 'round out' cylinders. So I could trade out for some stainless headers to shave a few more pounds. Any thoughts on brands or types?

Thanks, dude. I guess I'll have to show a face so I am not thought of as leather legs forever.

Jeremy, the “don’t lift” advise is well taken. I got that from the owner TODAY. He said, “just keep the power on and you’ll be fine!”

Today, guys. I layed out some of my first coin getting a broken sunroof fixed. I hate to have falling into the "Oh hell, just do it, I'll pay the bill no matter what!" syndrome but I just wanted to drive home with the sunroof open so I could hear every part of this car.

Guilty. Flame on.

Chris,

There is a tradition here in Seattle. When Pelican members become owners it is custom for them to drop by and let the other folks flog the shi....I mean carefully drive their new car. Oh yeah.....bring beer

Mine looks like this... notice the oil temp is just white or red slashes... I had to replace mine with an earlier version with actual temps (steering wheel removed for upgraded wheel install):

Hmmm... looking at your dash, you have quite a few differences. Maybe yours came with the numbers:

I'll bet the 77 930 came with numbered temp gauge.
I know the 74/75 Carrera's did.

The grip on the Steering wheel looks like it might be fatter like on the early Carrera's too.

The diameter certainly is... big time!

BLACK P-CARS

Hayabusa,

agreed black can be a ***** or a pleasure, i look at it as a labor of love!

here is a picture of a few of us SOCG guys at 450KNOTOFFICE'S house before a mid-day run,..... 3 of several blackies,........ keeping the blackies clean is the labor of love i mentioned, no complaints!

Mine is the 74 in the picture / sideview!

I have a early tail on mine, i had bought TWO and used the one without the 2nd grill as you can see in the picture, my xtra one looks exactly like yours, have the 2nd grill! and it is painted black just like in the picure,....... (the reason i went without the tail is i couldnt find the 2nd grill anywhere as mine does not have the 2nd grill,..... sooo i am selling it,.....

J.P.

sorry to say that i only had one rubber between the two tails, and i used it,......

the tail i have left over doesnt have the rubber lip, it is just the whaletail/decklid....... no hinges, or hardware, and it is freshly painted black (it looks just like the one on my car)

So Howard finally parted with his beloved 930? Good news for you Chris. Hadn't he owned it since '78 or '79?

When I was selling bikes with Howard in '98 I remember him saying that the reason I couldn't buy it was he had another guy in line in front of me. That must of been you, Chris. Good things come those who wait, I'm told.

Chris do you do any mobile bike detailing? Email me at kie@redlabelmoto.com or call 206-325-7233.

I have only seen it on very low mileage cars. I know it goes away with use, so its presence is a good sign of low mileage/careful use. I have no idea when they stopped having the dot.

Bingo! Somone that knows the car. I am truly blessed, Kie. I 'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how I became the lucky one on this. I guess that maybe it was just my turn. Howard really believed in me. He had owned the turbo since 1982. He purchased it from a local doctor that had originally purchased it from the old University Volkswagen/Audi dealership.

I really don't detail for hire anymore. It just wears me down. (sounding old here) The truth is that I am so swamped with my mortgage business that the only time for detailing will be a labour of love. I will call you though, maybe a good ride would be in order.

Hey, Brian, thanks for the

I'd like to know the story on the red dot, too!
