Rain and rust

We are experiencing monsoon season in Minnesota and since I bought my car partially on impulse I don't have alternative transportation (yet) for when it rains - which has been everyday the last two weeks. At least parking at work is covered. Since my car is pre-galvanized era I want to avoid rust at all costs as the body is rust free so far. Is there anything I should or could do to avoid problems. All help/suggestions appreciated - Thanks.

Do you have a leak?

Or did you just get paranoid from looking at all the rust pics on the board?

If the latter, don't worry about it. The thing to worry about is salt - it will kill the car in just a few years. The nice thing is that rain washes the salt away -- off the roads and into the stremas where it kills the fish...

Just get under the car 1x per year and check over the undercoating carefully - renew it, check for cracks, etc.

Garage
Buy a cheap beater to drive around when you don't want to drive the PORSCHE.

Air circulation is the best anti rust preventive in non heated home garages without getting exotic. My garage has a window that is open all year. A box full window fan runs full time dragging air from the garage door air leaks out the window. All garage electric supplies should have a ground fault trip.
