Do I really need to fork out..?
Gentlemen,
Short ignorant question. Heading for my first DIY oil change in my ´85 Carrera. Gathered all the stuff I need but do I really have to shell out for the kind of tool (not familiar with English term) that shows the exact momentum when tightening the two bolts. I understand there are two different recommended nm. Or can I just tighten them by "feel" - sorry bout my bad English. Thanks,

Your talking about a Torque wrench. ....and no you dont need one for the oil change. Just snug the drain bolts.
You should buy a torque wrench for many other parts on these cars. Probably more essential than many other cars on the road. Welcome to Porsche. Dont worry about your english. We will help you through the many projects. I hope you know the proper way to change the oil....and check it. You can search "oil change".

Well, you "should" use a torque wrench, but it's a fair guess that none of the pros ever do. I know I needed a freaking breaker bar to get my tank plug loose the first time. So just go easy on it and check for leaks. Also, a "beam type" wrench really shouldn't be very expensive.

I have a torque wrench, but have never used it for an oil change.

Most folks don't use a torque wrench BUT you REALLY SHOULD be sure to replace the crush washers (2). They cost very little and are well worth the investment to be sure you don't have leaks or stripe the threads.

Thanks everybody!
Just the answers I was hoping for. And Yes I have been unable to miss all the threads on this forum concerning how to do the oil change so I figure I´ll be allright (I have invested in new crush washers). I´ll post pictures of the unevitable oil mess of the garage floor when I am done.

Don't use too much force.
You'll need a torque wrench eventually - for other work - they measure force by the way (F = ma), not mometum.
