John,
Who is "they"? Did you get leak down numbers for each cylinder as well? 30lbs of variance between cylinders on the compression...what do you think? How much oil does the car burn?

Hi John:

Well sir, there are lots of opinions about results like these so one must consider the source,....

I'd be concerned about the # 3 cylinder.

I do not like compression testing for many reasons and I'd recommend performing a Leakdown test to confirm the above results and quantify WHERE the loss of pressure is coming from.

If this was such a big deal why in the world did you respond? I was simply interested in what others thought...I guess you must be having a bad day, go kick your dog.

Whoa, settle down there. These are valid questions. Did you do the compression test? A trusted friend? A garage? A leakdown test would go a long ways towards interpreting the numbers as would how much oil is being used/burned by the engine.

They may be valid questions, but give me a break...who is "they" and "what do I think...it is 30 PSI apart" The guy was trying to be a jerk...and yes, I need a BJ, but who doesn't?

Burns very little oil and I did not have a leak down test yet, because they (my mechanic) is trying to get it running properly, since it is my understanding that you should not complete a leak down test until the engine is at proper operating temp.

I had my compression checked a year ago and the numbers were different like yours on one cylinder, but after a getting the engine warmed up (really warm) and then cooling it back down to regular temps, and doing the test the numbers were equal straight across. It could be a valve with a lot of build up that isn't closing..blah blah blah. My car hadn't been run in awhile and was in for the "spring cleaning".

Try it again when you do the leak down and the engine is run for a regular cycle and the carbon has been blown out of it.

Hope things work out....this is just my experience......and don't go kick your dog....he has nothing to do with it........
