My cv joint on the drivers side started clunking, I figured it was broke so I took it apart to confirm & sure enough it was broken. I have a 68 911 T that is a eruo version. I ordered the cv joint from our host but they are no longer available so they offered to sell me the inner & outer & a new axle for replacement. I didnt get it but shopped around & found the same thing for a better price.
I got the new joints & axle today opened up the box & the joints are way bigger than what came off the car, they are supposed to fit 65 thru 83. I have had a lot of old beetles in my day & the old joint looks like a VW joint. Anyone out there know if a VW joint can be substituted. It looks like it might be the same size from what I can remember!

"Way bigger" as in thicker? Many replacements use longer bolts, but overall length is same. Flange faces are supposed to be same, though earlier ones used 4 bolts and 2 locating pins, newer ones use 6 bolts.

By way bigger I'm referring to the diameter of the cv joint. A VW cv joint is the same with the exception that Porsche uses a larger OD axle shaft. So it wont work. I know there were some crossover parts but on early 911's & 914's.
