Bolt sizes.
What size bolts do I need to mount the transmission on a 1971 911? I have the long ones in back for the engine, but they don't thread into the transmission mounts so they might be wrong too.
Also I need to know how long the bolts for the half shafts are. There are a couple lengths listed here. Thanks.

Also, my car has dark charcoal colered centers on the wheels with polished outer rims and the center part with the crest has a bit of a purple tint to the charcoal color. Any clue on these? Did someone paint them that way? All the pictures I see are polished spokes and rims.

As for the crests, mine have that purple tint too... Think it's probably just fading..

You mean after thirty something years they are fading? I was hoping it wasn't the PO being "creative"!

I don't know what size the transmission bolts are, but I suspect that the bolts on my car are not correct. The PO threaded two nuts on each bolt all the way up to the bolt head, apparently because the bolts were too long. I have to wonder about that... seems to me that he could have just cut some off the threaded end and the bolts would have fit just fine.

They appear to be 12mm. The thirty years thing should have had one of these.

The engine mount bolts are M12 x 1.5 x 92 (900.082.026.01)
pictured below with the flat end. The transmission mount bolts are a special bolt with a tapered starting point (901.305.317.00). The one pictured below seems longer than I remember, as if it were for a late 912 ('69?). The large dished washers curve away from the rubber mounts. ![]() Best, Grady |

I did not see these listed here at Pelican Parts. Do I need to go to a salvage yard? Or can I thread a die on and taper them myself?

I got mine here but don't remember the p/n - call them.
If you have struggled with one of these muthas while flat on your back, you will know why they have the pointed ends... Leave the engine ones a bit loose until these are in there ...

I need the bolts for the axles too and I have a couple other parts to order so I will call them. Thanks.
