Hi,

Same in my 84. It seems that the German engineers just got lazy on the shielding/directing of illumination on the heate controls.
BTW, why do my rear defrost and fog light knobs illuminate but the headlight knob doesn't? I'd guess the same reason as the poor lighting on the heater fascia. +++ |

my headlight knob illuminates, so that could be a problem just with your car.

The other knobs don't have a buzzer for when you open the door.
But my car's buzzer doesn't work so you have to be careful anyway.
