Turbo problem solved!!! (Funny)
I finally found the perfect trim for the inducer wheel on my turbo. This should provide enough air!

LOL, let me guess. 1st stage impeller off an Elliott or IR Centrifugal compressor, prolly a 3 or 4 stage unit. Used primarily in gas handling and seperation units (CO2, h2, etc).
Yep, I've rebuilt more than my share of those beasts, even spent some time at the factory in Jeanette, Pa. Scary thing is, they have actually made some much bigger than that. They have a concrete/steel lined vacuum test chamber where they spin em up for balance, then over speed em to make sure they don't fly apart. The vacuum chamber is almoast as big as my garage. |

On one that size is it is prolly limited to 16,000 rpm. the really small ones on the final stages spin as fast as 56,000 rpm.
They have a very large diamter bowl gear that spins at 3600, then the smaller pinion gears run off the bowl gear and spin the impellers. The rpm of the impellers is determined by the diameter of the pinion gears. Compression ratio on these things is usually designed for 3:1. So if a 1st stage has a suction pressure of 14.7 psia (atmospheric pressure), the discharge pressure should be around 45 to 50 psia, or 30 to 35 psig. The diameter determines the rate of flow, one that size is prolly on a 80,000 cfm machine. I'd guess the driver is rated at around 3000 hp. Material of contruction is usually aluminium on the smaller ones and stainless steel alloys on the bigger ones. The one in the picture prolly weighs close to 100# |
