What early (72-73) 911 would have had 7x15 fuchs?

Hey all,
I've got three 15x7 fuchs rims PN 911.361.020.01 that are datestamped 6 72, 3 73, and 10 73, and I'd like to know what exactly these are off of. I know that the period "S" came with deep-6s, so could these really be off a Carrera RS? Something else perhaps? Any ideas?

The only car from that era that would have used 7x15 Fuchs is the '73 Carrera RS or '74 Carrera(either US cis version or ROW mfi version)

Omar,

After March 1971, all Fuchs on production cars were the safety-beaded, tubeless type with part number beginning with '911' ... per the factory service manual.

I've also been told that 7s won't fit comfortably (i.e. NO rubbing) under an unmodified narrow body.

Thanks for all the replies guys,
So the gist of it all is that these ARE genuine Carrera RS rims, (well the first two are at least) and couldn't possibly have been fitted on any other factory Porsche at the time, right?

Sounds like not from the factory, but it's pretty easy to "roll" the fenders - you can do it with a wooden baseball bat and patience.

Is this true? I was pretty sure 15x7s with the right tires would fit fine, maybe even 16x7s. Anyone know for sure?

Porsche is famous for accommodating customer wishes, and would have made 7 X 15s optional for 911s, and also for 914-6s with the (usually dealer added) GT flares.

Just out of curiousity, is there any difference between these (72-73) 15x7s and the later 7s? Any distinguishing features? Judging by how 914-6GTs are even rarer than Carrera RSs, and the fact that 15x7s don't seem to fit comfortably on an early 911, I'd say that a Carrera RS is the likeliest source of these rims..

While I guess anything is possible in the southern CA Porsche market ... the most likely source of those wheels was from the racing parts catalog ... lots of 911s were raced in CA in the early '70s, and not that many RS 2.7 Carreras were imported.

Yes there are significant differences between early and late 15 x 7 Fuchs ... different center caps, and different ID where those caps fitted in the wheels!

Yes, or oem aftermarkets, no other 911 of the era would use them.

7x15 +23.3mm ET Fuchs will fit fine front and rear on a narrow body '69 -77 911.

You do need to be careful in the back, a 215/60 x15 tire(~8.4 x 25.1")tire will clear the lips but burn paint a couple of inches up the fender. A shorter or narrower tire or different suspension setup will work fine.

You're probably right, but the thing is, I'm in Lebanon right now, (all the way out by the Mediterranean Sea) and seeing how these wheels came from a collector who had been hoarding parts for god knows how many years, I would guess that these were directly off of a car and not an ex-factory option. It makes you wonder though, why would one take these off of a Carrera RS? Maybe they wanted to fit 8s and 9s?

What do you guys think?
