Normal or strange cornering behavior?
When I'm going through a tight turn aggressively, it sometimes feels like the inside rear suspension is really jacking up.
Is that normal weight transfer or a sign of something wrong? Maybe that is an early sign of lift off over steer...kind of like the earthquake before the tsunami |

Does your car have swaybars (and fresh shocks)? Some early models had no sways...

Corner entry? Mid-turn? Or on the exit?
What sort of tire sizes and wheels are you running? What are the details of the rest of your suspension set-up?

Stock 81 SC except for 7" 205/50/16 and 9" 245/45/16
Seems like it happens about mid corner and more so on a really tight hairpin. |

Have you changed your rear spring plate bushings?

I have an 82 SC, and I don't have the same behavior. Have you adjusted the ride height?
We could be talking about different perceptions of the same handling. Mine sticks up to the point of oversteer pretty predictably, but then it gets a little hairy  I noticed you have 9s on the back, so that is going to probably have your car sticking where my car is already getting loose.

Yeah, I'm going to get those bushings checked as part of my pre-DE safety check. I wonder if I'm getting weird deflection due to worn bushings.

I noticed some weird handling during our last fun run. I'll be checking the bushings (which already look as though they are sagging), shocks and bars. The car feels as if it is rising up in the turns and then settles into place.

I think Paul might be on to it.
Here are bushings from my 87 after only 62K miles . . .  As you can see, there is considerable wear. Using them I got very strange cornering feedback - esp quick low speed corners when you come it fast, brake hard & hammer it to come out. New bushings - along with new shocks, proper (but low) ride height & alignment - have transformed the car. Paul: I emailed you re dinner but no response? Ian
