3.2 Oxygen Sensor

Is it possible for a motronic engine to run without a oxygen sensor? I have just stripped down my 3.2 engine and it has no oxygen sensor on the exhaust. It has a dansk cat replacement pipe that has a bung that looks like it may be where the sensor should go but its not there.

It'll run but I believe it will be in Open Loop Mode...which means it'll run richer. A search will clarify as many have described the effects. What is screwed into the bung?

It will run, a bit on the rich side though... And expect gas mileage to drop big time!

Its just an allen bolt in the bung the previous owner had the cat replaced last year I presume they removed it then, the strange thing is as of yet I dont remember seeing connector for it to attach to. Is this where the oxyegen sensor normally fits in the front of the cat where the two sides of the exhurst meet?

I've been told the O2 Sensor only adjusts fuel mixture for idle and part throttle. It doesn't affect the WOT mixture at all.

Can someone pls confirm?

I was under the impression that 1972_911T was in England somewhere? Yes or No?

Anyhoo if so, not all ROW 3.2s were set up to use a cat. If the DME is expecting a O2 input and there isn't one it will just run a little rich, some people pull the O2 wire on purpose to achieve this effect.

The O2 has no effect at WOT, It only affects mixture at idle and part throttle.

Yeah your right bill im in the UK, and the car was originally from germany, the previous owner says the car did have a cat that he replaced with the dansk cat replacement pipe however he says as far as hes aware it never had an o2 sensor. Must be like you say this model never had the o2 sensor.
