#16 -18 in the exploded diagram are the warning section hydraulic components.
The warning light goes off if either piston moves from the neutral position due to excess pressure on one side over the other, the ends of this part are ported to the f/r pressure circuits respectively. I don't think that using the older switch is a problem, but the ports are all very small and subject to blockage from debris in the hydraulic system.
