CV Boot - HELP PLS!!

I am about to install a CV Boot and I am not sure if it is the correct part for my CV Joint.

The base where the CV boot is attached is different. The bolt pattern is the same, but my original part is much thiker and has a gasket, while the new one is very thin and doesn have a gasket . Is this ok???

Looks like you have a 944 axle boot from the picture. The boot you want is part# 923 332 037 00 with a dealer retail cost of $37.12.
The 944 boot will work but you need to use shorter bolts. Best bet is to get the correct one from the dealer.

Good to know that other is a 944 part. There is also one sold for 911s that looks like the one on the right, but has a thick steel disk pressed in, and the disk has the cutout for the gasket. If you pry out the disk it looks just like the one on the right.

I prefer that diskless style for my 911, though. It is lighter (only racer types would care about this), I don't have to deal with those pesky gaskets (though I do have to fuss with sealant), and particularly when the boot tears again (as it will eventually), I can use inexpensive, one size fits all if you trim them, boots from JCWhitney (NAPA used to carry them, but didn't last time I tried) and hold them on with a clamp. That other kind has the boot crimped into the housing so the whole thing goes into the dumpster when the boot tears.

If you decide to throw caution to the wind and try these, you can try the bolts you have. They'll stick through the back of the flange by the tranny, but if they don't hit anything when you rotate the wheel, so what. If they do hit you need shorter bolts or you can shorten what you have.

This is the same boot cover I just got from Pelican for my 81 911 SC. I sure hope its the right part. But does appear to be different than the one that is currently on the drivetrain side of my axle. Maybe Wayne can point out if there was a change in the design?

syncroid, the part number I got is the one you mentioned 923 332 037 00. Or, at least that's what says in the bag. This means I should be ok? Does this part goes directly over the CV joint?

It will work. You just need to get shorter cv bolts now. I still prefer the thick flange cv joints.
