Don't go cheap on a duck
Bought mine from a competitor because it was a helluva deal. As they say, if it sounds too good to be true... Will post pics as soon as it's out of the body shop. Big gaps (>3/10 inch) all around. It will provide downforce but it ain't gonna win a concours. Oh well, expensive lesson learned.

Good advice:
A little more spent can be worth it. The little details if not correct can drive one insane. Well at least that is my excuse. Wanna see pics tho.

I'll drive the car to the Sac swap meet so you can see it in person, Tim.

I could make you a deal on some AX wheels ![]() just kidding, you will like it! C

Keeping the duck, keeping the SC. I'll find another way to fund my Boxster purchase.
If I get real serious with tracking, I may look into another set of wheels. |

The steel/fiberglass ones cost more, now. I think about $800. But that's the way to go if you need perfect fit.
I've seen a lot of the all-fiberglass ones, and I have never seen a correlation between price and fit quality. Fiberglass body parts are a tiny industry, with pieces changing over the lifetime of each mold. The adage 'you get what you pay for' is far less applicable than simply 'you get what you happen to get.'

Chris, I had very good fortune with 2 GT-Racing ducktails, one carbon (stupid), one glass. You may want to sell it and pick up a Shaw or GT, you'll spend much more on a body guy making it work, or every time you walk about the back of the car, you'll curse it.

FWIW, Mine's a Getty, which has always gotten pretty good feedback, as far as I know. Anyone looking may try for one of theirs sold thru a number of places.

Shaun, I'm going to wait until the job is done before making my final decision though the car will have a duck.
dandrews64, the fitting, prepping and paint is being done by a local body shop in Concord. They came highly recommended by one of the wrenches I use. Total job = $500 estimate. So if they stay close to their estimate, I'll have spent $800 total including shipping. |
