Problem with new Turn Signal Switch

Just installed my shiny new turn signal switch from Pelican. Was installed to fix a high beam issue. Got the switch installed, headlights work great now...but no turn signals. I still don't have the wheel on, I rechecked all my connections and they look good. Fuses are not blown. Any ideas? The turn signals worked fine with the old switch. Should I put the wheel back on and rewire the horn and then try it??

Are you sure you connected all the individual wires to the proper connections?

I connected them one by one so I am pretty sure they are correct. Plus, don't the 4 wires that go to the headlight switch all operate the headlights? Seems to me that the 2nd large wire that has the plug in fixture and the single wire would work the turn signals...

Aargh!! Put the wheel back on reconnected the horn, etc. Still no turn signals. The hazards work fine as do the fog lights and the brakes, etc. Fuses look fine...I rechecked the headlight switch and all the connections look solid. Someone save me! I'm so close to driving it again...

Update: Took out the new switch and installed the old one again. Still no turn signals. They worked before. Has to be a wiring issue but I can't see where I went wrong...anyone have a pic of their headlight switch or a wiring diagram so I can check it?

Update of the update: Ok, now we are getting somewhere...I pulled out my shiny new factory service manual and checked all my connections. From what I can tell they are all correct. The only connection I was not able to see on the diagram is the black/white wire which is going into slot 56 on the headlight switch. The other 3 wires to the headlight switch are correct as are the other wires from the switch. So, I went and rechecked my fuses again and..........fuse 11 is blown which is the flasher/turn signal relay. Any ideas why this would have blown? Also can I just go buy a generic fuse or does a Porsche need a special fuse?

Did you disconnect the battery before swapping the switch? If not, you may have accidentally grounded a hot wire and blown a fuse. (It's always a good idea to disconnect the battery before doing electrical work.)

My understanding is that a fuse is a fuse is a fuse, as long as it fits properly. So, unless you're a purist, a standard fuse should work if it fits properly in the holder. There are guys on the board who have replaced their entire fuse panel with blade-type fuses.

EUREKA!! Found some of the same type fuses (the ones with the metal strip in the center and no glass) down at Autozone. Loaded up with all the recommended amp rating since I had no spare fuses. Replaced the new switch, wired it up (amazing how much easier it is the 5th time you do it), buttoned up the steering column, replaced the fuse and PRESTO!! Perfectly working switch. I think what happened was that I grounded a hot wire when I was testing out the new switch. I tried to test it prior to actually installing it in the column (it was just sorta loose in there, no screws) and I got a small spark from the switch when I turned on the car. Must've blown a fuse then and didn't see it when I checked em the first time.

Now that I can change a switch, I must be ready for that engine drop and total rebuild right??
