Black RS Clone pics please!

Hi,
I'm thinking of backdating the exterior of my car for now. I really love the look of the wider body RSR clone, but just not sure if i have the funds available right now.

So could people please post pics of black RS clones.

One question I have, some rs clones are long hoods, where as some have IROC bumpers? I'm kind of more inclined towards the IROC bumpers look. As my car is a 3.2, does that mean my standard flares are the same as the RS?

This is the car that really got me thinking. So basically i'm just looking for pics of cars similar to this, but with RS flares.

Thanks alot!

The Carrera RS had the same width flares as post-1978 cars: 7 inches in front and 9 inches in back. In the pre-impact-bumper era, the 2.8 RSR had larger flares: 9 inches and 11 inches.

The impact bumper 3.0 RSR had even larger flares: 11 inches in the front and 13 inches in the back, I think. The 3.0RS had the old 2.8 RSR flare sizes: 9 inches and 11 inches.

So, a narrow-body impact bumper car would be exactly what you have already, except that you could elminate the accordion bellows with front and rear bumpers that are more like the ones on the RS (or IROC) cars, modified to go with the standard flares.

I think TRE Motorsports sells what you're looking for.

Here's mine, a 72 RS Clone. Thinking of putting graphics on the side and maybe some Fuchs. 2,355 #'s with a stock 3.2. Beefed up suspension and brakes. A total gas on the track, fun on the road too.

Ah...my next project. My bold (and possibly crazy) plan is to buy a G-50 Carerra coupe for use as a daily driver until it starts having issues and then tear it apart to backdate into an RS clone with more comfortable interior, A/C, etc and put it to use as a semi-daily driver again. Call me crazy...

wrinkle in backdating G-50 911

I have an 87, want to backdate, can't get past not being able to run w/o rocker in place because torsion hole is a torsion notch out. Does not look correct. Frustrating, maybe can get creative and meld an older style body part w/correct looking hole in it. Anyone have any ideas. Sounds petty I guess, but just isn't working for me.

See photo. Torsion notch vs. hole in front of rear tire.

You can use a rocker cover. Especially on a black car, it's not that noticeable.

For a while, I ran the early rocker cover:

However, if you're planning on a "Carrera" decal, I think you'd want the later, body-color rocker panel.

It's all about the lighting, Souk.

And carefully placing dozens of perfect little yellow blossoms in the frame.

And then, in fact, BB1 did finally have one very ugly day.

So what exactly is the car in the pics i posted a replica of? Since it is short hood/IROC bumpers, and widebody? Wot flares does it have?

Anybody have more pics of black cars with IROC bumpers, ducktail and script?

Thanks

StayGold808,

I like your taste in cars! That's actually my ride -- a '75-bodied RS 3.0/IROC RSR clone.

If you need any more pics, let me know and I'll put them in a reply.

My understanding is that the '74 IROC RSR was a preview of sorts of the '74 RS 3.0. That or the '74 RS 3.0 was inspired by the IROC RSR ....

The '74 RS 3.0:

The '74 IROC RSR:

Body-wise, my car is a '74 RS 3.0 replica with 930 rear flares.

so can you get IROC bumpers for a non-widebody car like mine?

Can someone please post pictures of narrowbody cars with IROC bumpers.

THanks

Geez..you've been living in Cali too long Jack. Back here in the midwest, we carefully place trucks in the shot ANd find the best patch of grass to park on.... Yep..sad day for BB1 indeed

"Staygold:" You can get IROC-like bumpers for an SC/Carrera body. There lots of places you can get them from. You're in Australia, so it's gonna be expensive to ship from the US no matter who you get them from.

There are more than a few Aussies on this board, you might search them out and find out who they got their F-glass parts from. "Fishcop" is one I know of that did some body work somewhat recently, using fiberglass front and rear bumpers on an RS replica.
