BITZ CIS to EFI Conversion Project
I'm currently installing the Bitz EFI kit on my '79 SC 3.0. I'm waiting on an answer from Tony for the follow question but perhaps someone who's done the conversion can also chime in.
I'm cutting up my air box to ditch the fuel-meter etc. At the back of the butterfly throttle are numerous hoses and a Deceleration Valve and an Auxiliary Air Valve. Are these pieces required for my installation? What goes and what stays? For things that are removed what hoses get plugged, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if anyone has a picture of the back of their cut-up airbox that would be fantastic. Thanks, -Rob

Rob,
Sent you an email, but I'll reply here too. Both AAV (aux air valve) and Decel Valve aren't really needed with the EFI, but they do no harm being left in place. One fellow tried with and without the decel valve and indicated that leaving the Decel Valve in place helped prevent the RPMs from dropping too quickly during shifts. This made it easier to "catch" the engine during shifting. I've been meaning to try this myself to see if there is any difference I notice. If you remove the decel valve then you'll have to plug the two ports on the throttle body. Attached is one persons way of routing the AAR. He scrapped the original aluminium hose and replaced it with a rubber hose that connects directly to the throttle body. If you use the original aluminium hose to the AAR then you will need a small airfilter at the intake of the AAR. By routing the intake of the AAR back the the top of the throttle body the AAR air filter is avoided. ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheers,
