Here are my favorite fallacies:

1) The manufacturer of the 911 is pronounced "Porsh".
2) $,000's of dollars of hot parts will shave seconds off of a novice's lap times.
3) Carbs make more HP then MFI.
3A) Bolting on carbs makes more HP.
4) You can judge a car's throttle response by rev'ing the motor in your driveway.
5) By making your ports larger, you'll make more HP.
6) Lower is better.
7) Advancing the ignition timing will give you more HP.
8) Putting a SBV8 in the engine bay improves a 911
9) Because I can afford a 911, I must know how to drive fast

And last but not least...

10) DE's (or Hillclimbs) are safer then racing, and thus don't require the same safety systems.

It's just minor rust.
