Clock delete cover?

I have seen a couple of these in the most recent issues of Excellence on a number of stripped down street cars - does anybody know who makes these? (not interested in the big red light)

Thanks -

-Jeff

Do a search.
There have been some interesting postings regarding this.

Interesting. I did a search before I posted on clock, delete, cover, plate, and cap and got nothing.

Care to tell me which posts they would be?

Personally, the Porsche clock is my favorite timepiece to look at. I mean that big face with those easy-to-see hands and dial...

As Johnny Cochran once said about Porsche ownership: "If you can't beat it, why delete it?"

MS Road & Race, 323-660-7674, has four of them on Ebay right now. The photo shows no emblem. Just a blank cover.

Clock Cover/Light/Gauge

If you want just a cover, they are easy to make for about $10. Actually I have my local plastics place cut them out. I use just a matte black piece of cast acrylic glued to a piece of plastic tubing. If I want a big lite, I can add that, or I can have a hole cut out for a gauge. Currently I have a uego gauge in there. You can also make a cover for the speedo in the same way.

you can see my set up in the photo.

2 to 3 at one time?

Anyway, I'm just saying I prefer the OEM VDO clock on the 911 over almost any watch, clock, digital or otherwise. Sundials are cool too, as well as hour glasses.

BTW: the clock can't weigh that much. If I can get a mid-year car down below 2,300 pounds and still have a clock, well...

A cell phone, a watch and a chick...

What year is your car and what gets you to 2300?

It all adds up. I am shooting for 2200 with an 84 Carrera.

What year? '74.
What gets me there? Everything that doesn't help the car drive gets torn out (except the clock).

BTW: 2200 for a late Carrera - very manageable. It's just a matter of how much you're willing to part with.

You can roll cooler though, because fresh air will be coming in...

"the clock can't weigh that much.

- It doesn't. I posted the gauge wts. on a thread a while back. This is in the same realm as RS door panels, deleting sun visors, golve bos door, etc. -- i.e. cosmetic, not functional.

"it all adds up..."

- The problem is that minor things do NOT add up very fast. Many are lulling themselves with false wt. savings....

"besides, it's your car, right?"

- Absolutely right. If you just want cosmetics, or aesthetics, or period correct whatever... that is all up to you. Just be honest with yourself. And -- boys & girls -- it is all easier to do on paper first and then on the car itself. There is a lof of info out there. See Rennlight.com for a good start. Then search some threads. I'll try to update Thom's rennlight web page soon (I said that a few months ago too...). The models comparison has a nice list of articles too.... I also hope to do an article or a series for Rgruppe too (tho my hobby of suing the govt. keeps getting in the way).

Again -- it's your car ... be honest with yourself as to what you want.
