If we can't do the graphics, can someone lower this thing a little...say, maybe 1.5 inches in the rear and 2 inches up front? rdane's car's got it right!!

Thanks,

JA

Could someone slap some of the "frosted" 17" RSR Fuchs and a ducktail on this thing? It is a '70E with a '73 2.4S built to 2.7RS specs. I need to get rid of these goofy wheels and this tail, and I was looking for some photoshop inspiration.

Thanks in advance!

The oil lines are flexible and at the time of this picture I had just finished connecting them. They have since been secured snugly up against the longitudinals. With the rocker covers off, you can still see them when you are looking at the passenger side from a distance, but at least they hug the body now.

Thanks again, Driver8!! There is no limit to what you Pelicans can do to help get a visual idea of what is going to appeal to each individual. These changes you made REALLY help me get a feel for the look I am going for, without spending six months working in the bodyshop or $5K on new parts!

Just outstanding...thanks!

Last request...can you lower it an inch and half or so?

Thanks again!

So are you going to modify it OR just print out the latest iteration from photoshop ;-) just kidding!!! Seriously, only joking. Hope you go for it! Looks great!

DW SD,

Yes, I will likely go ahead with the vision. Your car was a large part of the inspiration, along with rdane and the countless other magnificent early hotrod "interpretations" on this board. As I said, the Carrera RS 3.0, or possibly the IROC look will probably be the ultimate outcome. I think I just have to do the following to get it close enough for my tastes:

o 17" Fuchs
o Remove the front rubber smile
o Ducktail or IROC tail
o Porsche side script (and possibly front script as well)
o Lowered

I think those changes would greatly improve the identity of this car. Right now it is an odd mix of parts that look fair, but really present a confusion of which "interpretation" is trying to be presented.

Any thoughts on how silver/gray scripts graphics would look instead of the black? Heck, I have gotten picky with the luxury of changing designs right before my eyes!

Again, I would love to see someone lower the end vision photos an inch and a half or so. Again, I think this will be key in giving the car the stance it really needs to jive with the rest of it's new image!

p.s. Oh, and by the way, I have not printed the final version off, but I have loaded it as new "wallpaper" for inspiration!!

Thanks,

JA

John,
I like your vision and do appreciate your kind words! It is great to have so many talented folks all within the same community! You are doing it right - plan, then execute!

I bet the charcoal / grey graphics would be excellent, bu that's only one man's opinion. Worst case, most of the changes are reversable, especially graphics.

Good luck,

Doug

I think you'll be very happen when done.

Doug

Great looking cars

One of the reasons they don't look as low IMO is the addition of 17" Fuchs. If you look at BBII in person or in the photos even with the trick suspension setup that Tyson did the car looks a bit odd. Look close enough and compare it to an RSR and it is obvious the wheels are big....2"s too big if you are looking at original 15's. Tires are a problem with 15/16s and will be soon enough with 17s.

But the look is different. Mine is shown with 16" Fuchs and even they look huge when you compare them to 8/9 15s.

Most of that issue is the lower profile tires on the bigger rims. So you are looking at more rim and less tire.

Here are two with 15s to give you a better perspective.

And one with 18/19/20s wheels?

Thanks a lot rdane! I see your point on the changing perspective with 17" wheels. And boy, those 15"s sure look great on those cars, don't they!

I actually measured (the official way since my fenders are aftermarket), to see where my ride height was. It was close to the recommended spec ( I think around 100mm for the front and 16mm for the rear if I recall). These measurements are the difference between the centerline of the wheel hub and the centerline of the torsion bar. This should be close to U.S. Spec if my memory serves. Anyway, I'd like to get a little lower maybe, Euro spec at least. Not sure where DW SD's settings are at, but it look great! And what about Jack's settings? It looks great as well!

Thanks for all the different views...really helpful in fine tuning my plans.

JA

EDIT: I forgot to comment on the blue beauty with the huge donuts! That is a great looking car, but I'm not sure I'd know what to do with it! I do like it, but I can't imagine how it would perform.
