You've got a LOT more rubber on the road than Juan ever dreamed of.
That picture a few frames up looks like the front wheels are gettin' air. Very cool for a 911 !!

Actually, we had opportunity to take the very last ride for the first day. After Jocke peeled off, we went to start position and took width measures of footprints from the TrackBite-prepped road.

Next day we lowered pressure and got better time but lower trap speed.

R-tires bit surprizingly well. 9's should be possible with everything on (2 bar, drag slicks, ALS, Launch control) but something will probably break.

Did I miss any dyno charts? I did see the one with cool colors and no #'s.:)

beepbeep 06-12-2006 01:30 PM

Dyno chart will be revealed later on this year. It's plenty ;)

quattrorunner 06-12-2006 01:39 PM

Cmon.

Engine was dynoed on 1.2, 1.4 and 2 bar. Efter that was done, engine was further improved with better intercooler and longer runners so noone really knows how much it delivers in new guise.

I believe it has around 6-700hp @ 1.2 bar.

quattrorunner 06-13-2006 08:43 AM

Nice. Thanks, BA

nigel911 06-13-2006 05:22 PM

You convinced me, where can I buy a Tokan?

Was always told that too much tokan would get me in trouble.

Crap gag, awesome project - thanks for sharing.

Time for a update.

First there was a unpleasent event during mapping session for 1.4 bar chip. As Jocke rode the rev limiter @ 7700 RPM and boost a couple of seconds too long, there was an intricate interaction between wastefire EFI (ignites twice as often) and 1000cc injectors cutting in and out. A loud backfire occured and spark plug was blown out. Engine started "poffing" afterwards on one cylinder. What was first tought to be blown exhaust gasket was indeed a cracked head.

Unfortunately, bits of porcelain cup in exhaust port went into the turbo and ruined the impeller.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1153688205.jpg

New head was localized, O-ringed and ported so it looked approximately as the old one. The funny thing is:

Whole cam tower and heads were removed w/o dropping the engine from the car! Not having a rear engine mount is really an advantage in this case as we can strip the engine to the case w/o even removing it from the car.

Anyway, used turbine shaft was located and turbo was patched together w/o balancing ( we didn't have the time or money for anything better). Car was then driven to Norwegian car show and driven hard for two days w/o a hitch until patched turbo finaly crapped out on the last lap. Car went extremly well and Jocke overtook heaps of very potent cars, ranging from Supras, tuned Audi Quattros, Rally-Cross Cossies etc.

Nervermind the stickers. I love the strings of beer bottles around the windshield.

Incredible

I just went through this thread with mouth agape.

Absolutely awesome.

I would love you guys to do my 911SC cab but I couldnt afford all that.

Maybe I could order a ITSFUN blender that you guys create. Nothing crazy maybe a 1-2hp turbocharged intercooled blender to power through health shakes and frozen drinks......

Once again, incredible work. Please post any other projects you have going or updates to this machine!

My brother showed me some clips from Midnight Racing in May. Very fast once you get the power down in the pavement. Difficult starts ?

TerryBPP 07-27-2006 06:59 AM

Good thing about not seeing this from page one is i didn't have to wait.:D Great build!!!

It's getting better. It's hard to do standing start with R-tires w/o spinning or bogging down. Car didn't have any launch aids during Midnight Racing so it was hit-miss affair.

Now there is a crude launch controll system installed. It keeps revs ~5000 RPM until clutch is dumped. We tought about enabling ALS but Kenneth (who mapped the car) said riding ALS for couple of seconds would be too much for turbochargers. It's OK to use ALS between shifts though, as heat doesn't build up if you shift fast.

In my opinion, car is good for high 9's on strip with all turned to max (slicks, 2 bar, ALS). But racing it like that will probably break something so it will wait.

Right now, car had run w/o hitch. It has been driven on track and drag-strip with same settings save for changing rear suspension camber and a quick wash. :)

beepbeep 07-28-2006 04:47 AM

P.S. Car has been mapped for 2 bar with race fuel today. Jocke said it's quite hysterical driving expirience. It can spin rear wheels in 4:th gear :)

It will be driven on a controlled circuit on tuesday, shod with slicks. A car magazine will do a feature story and let their own test-driver pit it against other cars in same track and controlled enviroment.

This is a table for results for different cars on Superstage course so far:

http://rejsa.nu/superstage/

Fastest Porsche so far was very tuned 944 Turbo with time of 1.24,84. We hope we'll be able to beat that time. I'm sure quarter-mile result will be good though. Most of top-performers were highly tuned track-racers and not optimized for drag-strip. Hopefully, there will be a good balance between track and drag results.

Par911 07-28-2006 04:49 AM

Amazing stuff Goran, way to show and prove that the HP Junkies are still laying patches down on the asphalt. :D

This build is an inspiration.

herman maire 07-28-2006 05:48 AM

Goran,
Its strange how a GT3 ran a 1.28,8 and a M3 is running 1.21,56.... I cant imagine slicks making that much of a difference.

Are you going to run the 2bar setting + slicks ? If you are you should for-sure be top 5.

Oh.... POST A VIDEOOOOO ..... seriously anything, it dont matter.

You think your going to get a chance to drive it?

livi 07-28-2006 06:39 AM

What car magazine ? Swedish ?

Funny how my bro who is not a Porsche aficionado knew about your car. He is of course very interested in street racing, trying to tune up his stock Nissan 200 SX to reasonable speed. As we speak he is out in the garage assembling a much larger inter cooler.

Car is not mine but Jocke Qvarnströms, I'm just giving a helping hand and keeping Pelicanheads entertained. ;) Magazine is Bilsport.

Unfortunately, what we tought was "wheels spinning in fourth gear" was clutch slipage http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/huil.gif

We should have known this...you don't break loose R-tires in 315's width in 4:th gear http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/a_frusty.gif

This means no 2-bar Superstage run and lot's of wrenching this week to change syntetic pucks on clutch disk.

Anyone knows good G50 clutch that holds for 1200 Nm? Tilton? Dual disc?
