3.4 Progress

Well my time line is moving up, little and big packages are showing up at the door everyday... Finished a little engine compartment R & R...

And yes, those little green shocks are a product of "while you are in there..."

And of course, my custom chip came from Steve...

I can hear her calling: "here engine, here boy..." coming along nicely I see! Did you by chance weigh your old engine sound pad? I was expecting for it to be fairly heavy (after reading some of the posts here, and maybe was on the earlier cars), but mine weighed in at a whopping 4.5 lbs (I think it was)....WooHoo!!!

The appbiz one is lighter - but not by much... This one is definitely thinner - and should make it easier to access the air cleaner. Both plusses...

Thanks Doug - wifey is "over the whole car" in pieces in the garage - so updates will hopefully be pretty fast and furious...

Here's a before picture...

Actually have the old clutch fork - so weltmeister update on the way

I'll try and keep this thread updated as things progress

You still have speed control and A/C? What's wrong with you?

Don't throw away that old fork and shaft. Yours is still in good operable condition. Clean and relube would make that work well for a long time. I'll bet years from now there will be somebody asking if anybody has an original G50 shaft and fork. I'm not saying that's a good thing. Just predicting it'll happen.

Don't worry, Steve has included a custom "AC" setting on the chip. It basically tries to counteract the horsepower sucking compressor on the 3.4 so its output is close to a non airconditoned 3.2 (Sorry Jeremy)

Joking aside, it has been a brutal summer for the 911 in the NorthEast. The summer's weather has been in the high 80's and low 90's with 80-90% Too hot for my nonairconditioned black interior coupe, at least for mid-day trips.

The parts look great Jeremy, the only way they would look better is if you had plug holes in the lower valve covers !.......Doug

yes - your suggestions have been very helpful - and I have used rod bolts on my floor to prove how helpful you have been.

All six intake valves were worn beyond spec (and in a 57,000 mile engine, go figure) so they were replaced with stock valves - not TRW - I have the name written somewhere - german company I have not heard of...

If it's Intervalves, they're Swiss.

Oh - got the welmesiter clutch update installed too - woo woo - Mine hadn't been updated so I have more material on the "ears" of the transmission casting (which makes me a happy camper!)
